When QE2 arrived in Dubai on 26 November 2008, she had a spectacular reception. The Royal Yacht MV Dubai sailed out to welcome the QE2. The British Navy ship HMS Lancaster sailed alongside QE2 with every member of the crew in formal uniform standing to attention alongside the ship. This was the very first time that a British Navy ship had paid a full salute to a merchant ship. A flotilla of small ships joined the sail into Dubai to accompany QE2 and to everyone’s delight there was a fly past by the new Emirates A 380.
A fitting reception for an international icon - the QE2!
