Ahoy from the QE2 Story Team !

QE2 in Dubai News
QE2 fans throughout the world, desperate for news about what the future holds, are certain to be closely watching recent developments in Dubai.  This week Rob posted the news that Khamis Buamim is to leave Drydocks World in what was described by Seatrade Global News as a 'shock exit'

Khamis Buamim was the one who stopped the Status Quo under V-ships, and stopped QE2 London in their tracks.  He took control of the ship (literally), created a holding company, and signed a "contract" with Oceanic for a Hotel QE2 in Singapore or Hong Kong and made all those grand announcements that have so far come to nothing.  As we've seen recently, the QE2 now looks neglected and grubby and it is well over 2 years since smoke came from her mighty funnel.

The question is could this be a "Game Changer for QE2" ?  Does anyone have a plan for QE2 and the financial backing?  We hope that someone comes forward with a plan and that this could be an opportunity for the future of the ship.

Keep watching the QE2 Story for more news as we get it !

What do you do with a retired Ocean Liner?

Rob was delighted to assist the author of the BBC's news article "What do you do with a retired Ocean Liner"  making sure that he got his QE2 facts straight!

The author asked the question at a time when the new P&O ship, Britannia had been named by the Queen and he took the opportunity to look at famous ships that had survived the scrap yard. The news article's focus ranges from
SS United States - "The rusting hulk";
RMS Queen Mary - "The hotel";
SS Rotterdam - "The multi purpose attraction"
But our favourite part of the article is QE2 - "The liner in limbo"

Photo Competition

There is still time to enter this month's photo competition "Hot" before the deadline of 31 March 2015.  Chris Frame has donated an excellent prize, a copy of Chris and Rachelle's book, "The evolution of the ocean liner" that is currently selling on Amazon for £16.58 GBP

Last month's photo competition, "QE2 meets other passenger ships" generated some lovely images that deserve lots of votes, so if you have not voted yet, have a look and vote for your favourites before voting closes on 1 April.
