Hello to all newsletter recipients,

I hope you continue to enjoy reading the QE2 Story's monthly newsletter where you can keep up to date on forum news.

If September is the month when we remember QE2's launch then October 2008 will be remembered as the month when her final season of 2007/2008 was coming to a close and QE2 fans everywhere prepared for her final farewell in November of that year.

The new Communications board contains lots of information on the Communications Equipment and the role of the Radio Officers, thanks to input from forum members Roger Latham and Willum.

This month forum members have continued to contribute to discussions old and new and we have been pleased to welcome back members who have not logged in for a little while.  If you are visiting the forum as a guest, please consider logging into the forum and posting in topics so as to keep the memory of QE2 alive.  Forgot Password?

Twightlight of an era - the birth of QE2 and her role in the nations identity

In 2012 Leovinus started a really interesting discussion on QE2, as a national icon and "what part did she play in a bigger national identify"  This topic was recently resurrected with members adding to the discussion.  Why not have a look and share your thoughts!
Jim Asleep in Jimland
RIP

Pete Cain's dog, Jim first found a place in our hearts when Pete posted photos in the Jim Asleep in Jimland topic.  We enjoyed seeing his pictures so much that this led to Jim being adopted as the forum's mascot and jigsaw club mascot.  Rob Lightbody even made a point of meeting up with Jim when visiting the Lake District.

So it was with great sadness that I report that we have been informed that Jim died on Monday 26 October, 2020.  He will be very much missed by Pete Cain and his wife, Liz.  But his memory will live on in his very own Jim Asleep in Jimland topic, where you can enjoy looking at pictures of Jim and post your condolences, but you need to log into the forum.
