Ahoy from the QE2 Team

On 20 September 1967 at precisely 14:28 hours on a sunny afternoon Her Majesty stepped forward on the launching platform and said:

“I name this ship Queen Elizabeth the Second. May God Bless her and all who sail in her.”

The launch marked the beginning of the history of this magnificent ship.

British Pathe was responsible for recording many great moments in history and the launch of QE2 was one of these occasions, captured for us all to enjoy again and again.

The QE2 Story is planning a special 50th anniversary event

Hurricane Luis

On this month September 1995, as a result of Hurricane Luis, the ship was slammed by a 90 foot high wave, followed by two smaller waves. The captain, Captain Warwick, reported maximum wind speed of over 120 knots with average wave heights of 40 feet.

Were you onboard?  Maybe you have a story to tell that you can add to the Hurricane Luis forum topic.

QE2 Wardroom

Were you one of the lucky few who had an invite to the Wardroom?

George Griffiths shared in the Gallery, crew area photos and his invitation for cocktails in the Wardroom
