The QE2 Story November 2014 Newsletter "QE2's six years in Dubai"

Hello from Lynda and the team at the QE2 Story.

Have you ordered your 2015 QE2 Calendar yet?  Details below about how to do so in time for Christmas.

We were pleased to have recently had the opportunity to create two media articles that highlight the plight of QE2 on the sixth anniversary of her final voyage.

Rob Lightbody wrote an excellent article “The Queen’s Six Years in Dubai” for Maritime Matters that details what has happened to the ship since she sailed from Southampton in November 2008.

We contacted Arabian Business in early November to suggest they run a story and they asked us to come up with quotes from the QE2 Story Forum members for their article “QE2 fans voice outrage as new images show iconic ship left “to rot in obscurity” in Dubai port”

Both these features were picked up by a number of other sources but there has been no comment from Dubai so far.

Last chance to enter this month's photo competition!

Our forum photo competition gives us the opportunity to share our photographic memories and relive some of the happiness that QE2 gave to us.

“QE2 in New York" our November photo competition theme chosen by our August competition winner Hamburger show some lovely scenes taken from the ship and of the ship.

With the competition closing date of midnight on 30 November drawing near why not take a look at your QE2 photos and choose your three favourites to upload to the gallery.  For more information have a look at the photo competition topic.

The prize for the winner of the November competition will be a copy of "Queen Victoria, a photographic journey" (new soft cover book) donated by the author Chris Frame

Last chance to vote for your favourite photo in last month's competition!

We were pleased that the theme “Lifebuoys, Lifeboats and Tenders” resulted in lots of fabulous entries for last months competition. Voting closes on 1 December, so  if you have not yet voted have a look at the photos and choose your favourite three pictures.
Congratulation to Fraser Ballantyne, the winner of the September competition "QE2 attracts shoreside crowds" and the runner up, Cunarder Man.  Plus a big  thank-you to everyone who participated by submitting their excellent photos and voting.  Keep watching the competition results topic for more information.

QE2 Story 2015 Calendar available to order now in time for Christmas

The Photo Competition has generated some beautiful images that Alan Snelson, former QE2 Photographer used when putting together this fabulous 2015 calendar.   It is now available to buy online and there are several mailing options to make sure you receive your Calendar in time for Christmas.

QE2 Story members, who visited the Cunard Building in Liverpool in June, appreciated the time taken by Joseph Garnett the manager of the Cunard Building to show us around the building including his behind the scenes tour.  We decided that we should send him a copy of our calendar to say thank you, and were delighted to receive this photo from him.

Full details of how to order a calendar can be viewed on this page.
