Greetings from the
Yunus Center at the Asian Institute of Technology!
We believe that the power of the market can be harnessed to eradicate poverty. This can be done by using business practices to disseminate pro-poor technologies. We act as a knowledge hub and an enabling platform to accelerate the spread of these technologies through social business and enterprise-led development.
If you're a social business expert, social entrepreneur, researcher, student, or just itching to know more about ways to solve social problems, scroll down for more details. We look forward to seeing you at our events this month.
RSA Watch - Join us for this event this Wednesday 14th 18:30 hrs @Fab Cafe, where you can meet and watch RSA talks together and discuss the ideas and concepts raised. We call this Social Watching!
YCA teams up with Thammasat University's School of Global Studies to co-host an RSA Watch party. The event will feature a recent talk recorded at the RSA in London, and breakout discussions with questions provided by the organizers. RSA talks discuss pressing social and environmental issues, and provide ideas for progress. Watch parties create the opportunity to discuss the ideas presented in the talk and for the viewers to put them into a local context.
This event will include a pair of short RSA Animate videos, “Economics is for Everyone!” that features University of Cambridge economist, Ha-Joon Chang, and “The Truth About Dishonesty,” with Dan Ariely, a popular author and behavioral economist at Duke University.
Note: FabCafe's delicious drinks will be available to enjoy during this event, and please, avoid bringing external drinks or food. Thank you.
Waste is a growing problem in Bangkok—it’s estimated that nearly 10,000 tons of tons of waste were sent to landfill every day in 2013. Over 90% of our waste could be reused or recycled, if it was handled properly, but close to 80% of it currently ends up in landfills. Our next YY Cocktail event will look at the business opportunity presented by diverting waste from landfills, as well as ways in which social businesses can help close the loop.
Updates coming soon!

Have you ever realized that menstruation is a taboo and a huge problem in many girl’s lives? It definitely is a neglected issue around the world and it’s about time to change that. The lack of information and awareness about the matter causes impacts on social exclusion, on education, on health and on sustainability, to say the least. It also affects women and girl’s self-conscious and self-esteem. Personal, educational, professional and environmental improvements come out of a good menstrual hygiene management and it can change many lives. Why do we avoid talking about something so natural? It is a great opportunity for Social Business and we want to bring the discussion to the table. Let’s talk about this!
