I would like to start by thanking all of you for the hard work and dedication you have shown to boosting reading for children across the city.  As the leading authority in gains for boys reading in KS2, we should stop to recognise the success of your work in challenging circumstances.

I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Jane Brown, Head of New College to the Strategic Board. Jane has been recently appointed as the Secondary Representative on the WiT Strategy Board in place of Bill Morris.

Reading Buddies Training - 21st September 2016 @ SDSA

This training is an extension of the Supported Summer Read event which took place at the Leicester Racecourse 10th June 2016. A number of year 9 students across Secondary schools attended to support vulnerable year 6 students prior to their transition into secondary school. Everybody’s Reading is launching the second Sue Townsend Award in honour of an incredible author, Sue Townsend. Teachers from Leicester schools have nominated two pupils who have shown greatest promise in their creative writing
and will be awarded a prize by a guest author during the Festival.
