THANK YOU FOR SUBSCRIBING!
We can appreciate your interest in running shoes. A good pair is the difference between a good run and a miserable experience. We've all been there!
Your running shoes are a tool, nothing more nothing less. You need them to run. Yes, of course, you always have the barefoot option, but let's be honest - majority of us are not heading out of the door without our shoes on.
So what should you keep in mind when selecting a pair for yourself?

How to Select the Right Pair
Dr. Romanov keeps his recommendations simple. Follow these rules and you will get yourself the best pair of running shoes.
|
|
FIT
Dr. Romanov recommends wearing shoes that are wider at the forefoot and have a low profile heel area. The shoe must fit like a glove with a bit of room at the toe box.
Avoid toe boxes that fit like a bubble around your forefoot, i.e. leaving space above the toes. Such poor fit will provide an unstable environment for your forefoot and will lead to an eventual injury. It also messes with your perception.
- Wide at the forefoot
- Snug at the ankle

SIZE
Get shoes in your size, don't wear shoes that are big or small for you. Sounds ridiculously obvious, yet this is a rather common occurrence with various excuses.
Shoes that are too big will mess with your landing & perception. Small ones will be the cause of blisters, foot muscle cramps, forefoot pain, black toe nails. Many runners tend to size up with good intentions, but miss the mark and provoke injuries.
- Your size
- Half size up max
|
|
FLEXIBILITY
'Flexible' is often misinterpreted and taken too far. We want the shoes to allow for free movement of your foot, to allow for certain level of responsiveness of your sole. Whether a shoe can be folded has little to do with it's quality and everything to do with it's marketing.
|
WEIGHT
The heavier the shoe the more work you have to do. So the lighter the shoe, the better it is for you. But unless you're chasing a gold medal at the Olympics you don't need to chase THE lightest shoe out there. So get a lightweight pair and don't count the milligrams.
