WINTER CONTEST & ACTIVITIES THIS WEEK
Encourage your students to attend some of the Winter Contests and Activities that are being hosted by Willard's Ambassadors this week. These are great social opportunities for all students. This flyer includes the days/times, necessary materials for each activity, and the Zoom Link.
Willard Staff started out our school year with a “remote retreat” in August where we listened to and discussed the late John Lewis’ words that he penned in his final essay. As we march forward towards that last week of school in the 2020 calendar year, I am incredibly proud of the work that we have accomplished so far this year. In his essay, Mr. Lewis noted, “Though I may not be here with you, I urge you to answer the highest calling of your heart and stand up for what you truly believe”. It is my belief that despite these most unique of circumstances, with your partnership as families and loved ones of our students, Willard has been able to answer our calling as educators in a way that not only fulfills the head, but also the heart of our school community.
With that, here are some important updates as we head into the week:
Thank you Willard community! We want to extend deep gratitude to the Willard Community for your donations to support Willard during the November Willard Fund Drive -- together we raised close to $20,000. It's never too late to donate if you still want to get one more tax deductible donation before 2020 comes to an end, just go to willardmiddleschool.org and click on Donate to the Willard Fund. No donation is too small!
Willard Specific Family Survey: Willard is interested in hearing from you all how things are going. Please provide us some feedback by taking this short survey. I will be sharing responses and main takeaways with the Willard staff.
Willard Secretary, Rosalina Barrios: The friendliest face of Willard, school secretary Rosalina Barrios, has received a promotion and will be departing Willard this week. Please join me in appreciating Ms. Barrios for her six years of commitment to our school community. Feel free to send her an appreciation at firstname.lastname@example.org
BUSD Middle School Specific Dashboard: BUSD launched their middle school specific reopening readiness dashboard last week. You can review the content here.
End of Quarter 2 and Semester 1: Q2 and S1 comes to an end this Friday, 12/18. Report cards should arrive early in the week of January 11th.
I wish you and your family all of the best during this holiday season. If things come up, please remember, you can always reach out to your student’s grade level counselor, or contact myself.
“See” you in 2021,
