The following letter was emailed to families today from Principal Albeck and is being reposted here for anyone who may have missed it.
November 30, 2020
Good Afternoon Willard Families,
The three weeks ahead are usually some of my favorite weeks at Willard. Between the creative projects, the smell of delicious treats wafting up from the Growing Leader’s kitchen, the student-led food and clothing drive, and the palpable student energy that carries us into the new year, these three weeks hold a feeling for Willard that I will greatly miss this year. In spite of this, and like I tell Willard’s staff, we are where we are, and that is okay. I hope you and your families had a chance to enjoy one another over the holiday. We are heading into three weeks of “normal” schedules.
With that, here are some important updates as we head into the week:
Middle School Town Hall: Are you interested in hearing BUSD’s latest plans for “hybrid learning”? Would you like a chance to provide Dr. Stephen’s and BUSD some feedback? If so, please join us tomorrow for a BUSD Middle School Town Hall event at 6pm. More information can be found here.
Attention Families of 8th graders: If you have not already done so, it is time to get your 8th grader ready for high school. By now you should have received this correspondence from BUSD’s admissions department. The Admissions office is not currently open to the public. However, if you have any questions I urge you to call the Admissions Office at (510) 644-6504 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Willard Middle School Information Night: Willard will host our annual middle school information night on January 6th at 7pm. This night is intended for families of current 5th graders who will be potential 6th graders at Willard for the 21/22 school year. I am looking for a group of current 6th grade families who would like to participate in a video recorded zoom conversation with me about your students' experience transitioning to, and being in middle school. This conversation will be uploaded to our school website for incoming families to watch. If you would like to participate in this, please sign up here.
End of Semester 1: Semester 1 and Quarter 2 come to an end on 12/18.
If things come up, please remember, you can always reach out to your student’s grade level counselor, or contact myself.
