July Update: Food Distributions, Prayers for Pastor Murrombe's Family & Pastor Kunene

July Update 2020

Dear Friends and Family,
Greetings from beautiful Eswatini! We hope and pray that you are all doing well and staying strong and healthy during these unusual times.
Over the last 8 weeks, we have been busy distributing food parcels to our pastors, who then distribute to those people who are in desperate need. The total number of food parcels delivered so far is 1,360 ....... that means 1,360 families were able to eat for 2 - 4 weeks!  For those that had their own vegetable garden, it may have been enough food for up to 2 months! What a huge answer to prayer and a blessing to so many people. Thank you so very much for making this possible with your generous donations.

The Lord keeps bringing to mind the following scripture from Hebrews 6:10:
"God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love that you have
shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them."
Eswatini is similar to every other country in the sense that the lockdown has had a devastating effect on the economy. The government is trying to balance out a partial lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus, and the gradual opening up of businesses to boost the economy.  As things are opening up, the number of positive cases have skyrocketed.
In the last two weeks, the number of COVID cases have dramatically increased. Currently the total number of cases in Eswatini is 1,389. Out of the 1,389 cases 688 have recovered. There have also been a total of 20 deaths.

Please continue to pray for the people being affected by the virus, specifically for healing in their physical bodies. Please pray for those that have lost loved ones, that the Lord comfort them during this difficult time. Lastly, pray for those that don't have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus ...... that during these challenging times,  they will cry out to the Lord and that he will reveal Himself to them!

We asked the Lord how and when to proceed with the Bible schools and church planting. Due to lockdown restrictions, our Bible Schools have been canceled for the year and our plan is to restart the schools in February 2021, Lord willing! The restrictions placed on groups meeting are extremely challenging:
  • Groups can only gather and meet for 2 hours, and our schools are 6 hours long.
  • A contact list needs to be made each time we gather of peoples names, addresses and phone numbers in case someone tests positive for COVID 19.
  • There is to be no touching, hugging and social distancing of 1.5 - 2 meters must be followed. The spaces where we meet do not allow for all the people to gather and practice social distancing at the same time.
  • Many people are concerned about gathering together in large groups becasue in the last 2 weeks the numbers have sky rocketed.
The decision was made to start afresh with the Bible schools in 2021 ...... Lord willing!

Pray for the Murrombe Family

Please keep the family of Pastor Antonio Murrombe (pictured above with Randy) in your prayers. In February 2020, we planted a church with Pastor Murrombe in Nyetane. If you remember ...... that was the time when Randy's truck broke down in the middle of nowhere and had to be towed home very late at night!
In late May, Randy received a call from Pastor Bonke, Pastor Murrombe's right hand man, that pastor Murrombe had died suddenly during the night from a heart attack. We were shocked by the news and immediately did what we could to help the family during this difficult time.
He and his wife, (pictured below in the top picture on the left in the center), had 6 beautiful children together, and the youngest was around 4 years old. His wife who is from Swaziland, was now a widow with 6 children to care for.  Pastor Murrombe was originally from Mozambique and much of his family was still living there. We were able to help cover the cost for his wife, and all 6 children to travel to Mozambique for the funeral. The most difficult part, was getting through the border during lockdown, because all the borders were closed to travelers ....... BUT the Lord made a way. Pastor Bonke has been extremely helpful through all of this and has been such a huge blessing.
In June, we had a food distribution for the church in Nyetane which was very encouraging for everyone. There was also a meeting with the elders in the church on how to proceed. There was mutual submission and agreement on new leadership for the church. Please continue to pray for Pastor Murrombe's wife and children as they greave the loss of their husband and father. Pray for the church family as well!

Pray for the Pastor Moses Kunene

Pastor Moses Kunene and his wife Lindiwe we have known for at least 12 years. They love the Lord and are doing the work of the ministry; caring for orphans, feeding the poor, they have a life giving church and so much more. We also facilitated an ISOM Bible school at his church years ago!

Early in May he went to the hospital with severe pain in his lower back. The test results show Multiple Myeloma in his spine, which is cancer of plasma cells. Please pray for complete healing for Moses, for strength and comfort for his wife Lindiwe and their entire family and church family!

Prayer Requests:
  • Pray for all those infected with the Covid 19 virus, for healing in their physical bodies.
  • Pray for those people on the frontline; doctors, nurses, EMT's, school teachers, and all those operating essential business ..... that the Lord protect them from getting sick.
  • Pray for heavenly wisdom for the leaders of the nations, as they try to prevent the spread of the virus, and at the same time open up the economies.
  • Pray for us, that we continue to be sensitive to the leading of the Lord and how He wants to use us during the Partial Lockdown.
