Fourth Quarter Update 2019

Dear Friends and Family,

We would like to take this time to wish all of our friends and family a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!  This is probably my, (Karen's), favorite time of the year!
It really is the reason that we do what we do …….
This is the time we celebrate the Good News of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  When I think of Jesus coming to the earth as a humble servant, making and providing a way for us to have relationship with the God who created the universe, all because of his great LOVE for me and you, my heart rejoices!. Tears of joy stream down my face and peace overwhelms my heart knowing that every detail of my life is in my Father’s hand. I have confidence in my faithful heavenly Father,  knowing that I am under the shelter of the Most High. He is leading me, guiding me, protecting me and providing for me because Christ came to the earth ……. For me and for you.
Wow, what an amazing gift that He has given us ...
the gift of eternal life through the birth, death and resurrection of His One and Only begotten Son ... Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world!

"Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift." 2 Cor. 9:15
As we reflect on 2019, we have so much to be thankful for.  We want to share a few highlights with you as partners in the ministry of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ here in Swaziland, Africa.

When I think of all the people who have prayed for us and given financially over the last 13 years we have been serving in Swaziland, my heart is filled with gratitude to God for surrounding us with such wonderful and faithful partners. Without each and everyone of you, we would not be able to do what we do!
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you,
I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel,
from the first day until now ……” Philippians 1:3-5
  • It is your generous giving that has enabled us to buy a crusade tent for evangelistic outreaches and plant 43 churches in just 3 ½ years, all throughout Swaziland. Thousands of people have heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and are going to heaven, because you have given financially and prayed.
  • It is your support that has enabled us to buy sound equipment for the crusade tent, so that throughout the rural communities, the call and invitation goes forth for people to come and hear the Good News about Jesus!
  • It is your support, that has enabled us to generously give to the evangelist, pastors and others who are part of the church planting team, that work together to make it all happen.
  • It is your generous donations that have enabled us to pay the keyboard player, Bongmusa, who has faithfully served the Lord this year. He is a huge blessing to the church planting team. This young 22 year old boy supports his mother and two younger brothers …… he is the breadwinner in his family!
  • It is your partnership that has paid for the printing of over 2,000 Discipleship Course  manuals used by the pastors after the churches are planted. This helps each believer grow in their new found relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • It is your partnership, that has enabled us to run over 28 different bible schools over the years, helping pastors, their leadership teams, and their flock grow in their relationship with  the Lord through systematic study of the word of God. All of this is being provided to them at no charge. Jesus said in Matthew 10:8, “Freely you have received, freely give.”
  • It is you and your generous giving, that has enabled us to build people, churches, orphan homes and so much more, for the advancement of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the glory of God our Father.
Thank you so much for your prayers, for your financial support over the many years we have been serving the Lord here in Swaziland.
Wishing you and your family a
Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year!
Love, Karen and Randy

Fourth Quarter Church Plants

In the fourth quarter of 2019, we planted 6 more churches in Sikhupe, Lamgabhi, Lundzi, Ulundi, Ekupheleni and Mawalala. Total church plants for 2019 was 16 ..... for a total of 43 church plants since we began in May of 2016!

Sikhupe Church Plant

The church plant in Sikhupe started out as a two week church plant, but the Lord was doing so much in the people that were coming, that it was extended to three weeks. Pastor Maziya is taking 40 people through our 14 lesson Discipleship Course.
He has a heart for people to know the Lord personally, and takes great care in teaching the people in his church. Above, Pastor Maziya is pictured teaching about the heart of man, and what the Lord desires to do in each one of us.

Lamgabhi Church Plant

The church plant in Lamghabi was lead by Pastor Mazibuko. Once again the Lord did amazing supernatural things during this church plant!

Testimony of God Moving in a Supernatural Way
at the Lamghabi Church Plant!

Pastor Mazibuko met with the local chief to get permission to plant the church. Permission was granted. Then he proceeded to go door to door to personally invite people to the church plant. Then it came time to actually put up the tent, and the very first day the tent was up the chief came to Pastor Mazibuko and shared with him that 4 people had recently gone missing in the area. He said two women and two children had just disappeared, and he didn't think it was a good idea to continue with the church plant because of the extreme danger for the community.
The community was afraid that the 4 people were murdered, and the chief asked Pastor Mazibuko if the church would pray specifically regarding the 4 missing people; that they would be found, that they would know who did it and that the details of what happened would come to light. Pastor agreed that he and his church would be praying.
So the church prayed for two weeks. On that last and final day of the church plant, the most amazing thing happened. In late morning of the final day, a crazy man came running out of the forest and into the chiefs compound. The people who were there worked together to apprehend the crazy man and then called the police. The crazy man took the police to four separate burial sites where he had hidden each of the bodies.

The Lord answered the prayers of the church that day. The Lord caused the crazy man to come forward and reveal himself to the authorities, he then showed the police where the bodies were. The Lord kept the community safe during the two weeks. The Lord revealed his deep love for the people in Lamgabhi and He desires to reveal Himself to you and me in the same way.

Lundzi Church Plant

Pastor Maziya  has a heart for the lost. This is the third church that we have planted together. He also has other young men and women, that he has raised up and discipled to partner with him in these new church plants. This church is in a very remote area, where there is no other born again church.
He and his wife have moved there for a time, to help the people get grounded on their relationship with the Lord by taking them through our 14 lesson Discipleship Course. He has 80 people currently going through the study!!!

Ulundi Church Plant

Ulundi is located close to Lundzi. The people in Ulundi were asking Pastor Maziya to come and preach the Good News to them as well. So Pastor Maziya did just that. The tent was taken a few kilometers away, and a new church has been planted in Ulundi.

Ekupheleni Church Plant

This church plant in Ekupheleni we partnered with Pastor Hlophe.

Mawalala Church Plant

Mawalala is a small community filled with many people, outside the capital city of Mbabane. Pastor Brian lives in this community and has had a desire to plant a church for many years. He is continually telling people about Jesus, and the Lord spoke to him about planting a church at his home. So the tent went up in his yard and the church is meeting in his house. There are currently about 25 people going through the Discipleship Course.

Year End Graduations & Celebrations!

The end of the year is always a busy time because many of our bible schools are coming to completion. I love graduations because participants are given an opportunity to share and testify about what the Lord has done in them over the course of study. Here are some photos from the end of the year graduations!
ISOM bible school at Breath of Life Church in Moneni. We have planted 5 churches with Pastor Thabiso. His desire is to see people grow in the Lord.
Completion of year one studies ..... ISOM Certificate Graduation Day! what a celebration, food, fellowship and a graduation cake!
First year Certificate level ISOM graduation in Sidwashini.
Second year Diploma ISOM graduation at Sidwashini!
Over the past year, we have had requests from a group of people in the Nhlangano area to come and start teaching. Half way through the year, we began by having the students go through our 14 lesson Discipleship Course. They are a wonderful group of people who love the Lord. We had some of the best conversations & discussions, as the Lord would reveal himself to us through his word! Looking forward to getting together in 2020 with this lovely group of people!
Pastor Magagula, Pastor Bulunga and Randy! We gathered together both churches and celebrated those students who completed the 14 lesson Discipleship Course.

This is the second group of people from Pastor Bulunga's church.

Nelson's Preschool Graduation

Pastor Nelson Mayisela we have known since 2010. We have been partnering to gether for almost 10 years now. Along with facilitating ISOM classes, he also owns and operates 'New Life School'. This year he had 17 students, 8 of them were 5-6 years old and graduated and will be going into grade 1. The remaining 9 which were 4-5 year olds, will be returning next year.
Earlier this year, we received a generous donation to assist Nelson in adding on to his preschool. He can add an additional class for more students in 2020.
On evenings and weekends, the room is used for his church to gather together and worship the Lord, as well as for community meetings.

Christmas Day Food Distribution!

Once again at Christmas, Nelson's church reached out to the less fortunate in his community and provided the basic necessities and a Christmas meal for 33 families!

For many of these people, they do not have employment and are going through a difficult time ... some days not even having any food to eat.

Nelson has been a tremendous blessing to those in his community, giving from his own kitchen pantry so others can eat. He has a huge avocado tree and regularly gives avocados out to be a blessing to the less fortunate.

Family Christmas Time!

We had a wonderful early Christmas celebration. Mark, Kay, Jadon & Josie were able to return to Swaziland and celebrate Christmas with Randy, Shelly and I. What a blessing to all be together!
We cuddled, played with bubbles, read books, went swimming, went to eat at our favorite places  ..... and just spent time together!
One day, we drove through Mlilwane Game Reserve and all kinds of animals; impala, warthogs, wildebeasts, and many zebras!

Christmas Day!

Christmas Day was spent going to church, singing Christmas songs, and hearing a life giving message about Jesus, then on to Hawane Farm where we had a Christmas meal with about 100 people!
Afterward, we drove with our friends from Swaziland, Fika and Melody Dlamini ..... to our friend Claire's chicken farm in South Africa. We stayed there a couple days and had so much fun together!

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for use as we are planning ministry for 2020. Currently, church plants are scheduled through to June.
  • Please continue to pray for wisdom in identifying pastors to partner with in planting these churches.
  • Pray for the all past church plants and their respective pastors, that each one would continue to seek the Lord and walk in obedience to His Word and care for the flock that the Lord has entrusted to them.
  • Pray also for the new ISOM schools beginning in February 2020.
  • Please pray for Shelly as she settles into life in Swaziland, and for continued direction regarding her ministry in 2020.
Thank you for praying for the Lord's work here in Swaziland!
Love, Randy and Karen
