September / October Update from eSwatini:
Springtime Rains, Friends, Teams & Church Plants!

September / October Update

Hello Friends and Family,
We hope you all are doing well and enjoying the beautiful fall colors and the cooler temperatures. We are now entering springtime in eSwatini and the rains have begun which is wonderful. The rains help to fill up the dams with water which we need desperately, (they have already talked about a drought again!) and the rain softens the ground so the farmers can plow and then plant. So we are praising the Lord for rain!!!
We have been blessed by visits from friends during the last couple months. Mitch and Char Hildebrant came in August and spent time ministering in both South Africa and eSwatini. They brought a 21 member team where Mitch is a pastor, called Hills View Evangelical Free Church in South Dakota.  There is something so very special about seeing people touched by the Lord when they come and serve others. They give their time and talents to be a blessing to people on the other side of the world that they have never even met before, just because there is a huge need. They love the way Christ loves ...... by giving of themselves!!!!  We were also able to catch up and spend a little bit of time with Mitch and Char who were amazing missionaries with us in Swaziland for 5 years.
One team left and another team of two, Fred and Kathy Franz came and spent 2 weeks with us in eSwatini. It was an absolute blessing to minister alongside Fred and Kathy. They have been involved in ministry in eSwatini for over 10 years. (See below for pictures and more details.)
Lastly, we have seen the Lord moving in miraculous ways through 4 more church plants in the last couple months. They are Masekweni, Bhamboo / Moneni, KaKhosa and Nkwalini Zone 2. (See below for pictures and more details.)
Thank you so much for following what the Lord is doing in eSwatini. Thank you for being a part of all that is happening. In the body of Christ, we know that each and every person has their part or function to play. When each person does their part, the Kingdom of God advances here on the earth, just as it is in heaven. Thank you for praying and giving and being a part of what the Lord is doing!!!!

Friends - Fred & Kathy Franz

Fred & Kathy Franz have been coming to eSwatini and ministering for over 10 years.  They have a real heart for the people of eSwatini and continue to pour themselves into the lives of ministry partners here, as the Lord directs them.
Christ's Hope
This visit, we spent one week in Siteki on the other side of the country. We ministered to the staff with Christ's Hope International, an organization that cares for the orphan and vulnerable children through feeding, educating and caring for the whole child. The focus for the week was specifically the staff, loving on them, encouraging them, caring for them as individuals and helping them develop unity as a team. The model that we used was the life of Christ. We dug deep into the word of God to see how Jesus himself loved others, cared for others. We also discussed the attributes of God and defined LOVE according to the word of God. We identified Godly attributes in the lives of each other, and shared those with each other to encourage and build one another up.
One of the highlights was getting to know the staff, praying with them and for them, and hearing their testimonies and stories of Christ's redemption in their lives. Since they have each experienced the loving kindness of their Savior, they are able to share this with the children and give them that same Hope in Jesus Christ!
Young Life
Our second week was spent ministering to the staff and volunteers at Young Life. Young Life ministers to the 'World of Teenagers", and if you have ever had a teenager you know they have their own little world. :-)

Young Life starts with adults who spend time building authentic relationships  with teens — where they are, as they are. Because their leaders believe in them unconditionally, teenagers begin to see that their lives have great worth, value, meaning and purpose.

The Young Life leaders hold meetings or 'clubs' on a regular basis at specific schools throughout eSwatini. As they build relationships with the students, the teens realize they can be themselves, have fun and consider some of life's biggest questions like, "How can we best live our lives?" and, "Why are we here?" At every meeting or 'club',  they play games, have some fun then a bible lesson is taught and discussed with the students. The Young Life staff make themselves available to talk with the teens about life's challenges and give Godly counsel.

Sthe (in the white hat), is the eSwatini National Director for Young Life and absolutely loves the Lord and loves what she is doing!!! She loves introducing others to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. It was an absolute joy to be able to minister to these individuals who are helping to change the Kingdom of eSwatini by ministering to youth in this nation!

Church Plants

Church plants continue throughout the Kingdom of eSwatini. This past week, we just finished our 23rd church plant since May of 2016. Some of these churches are small little light houses in their communities, and other churches are growing quite quickly and impacting the surrounding communities in a very dramatic way. One of those churches is Breath of Life Church and the pastor is Thabiso Nxumalo, pictured below with Randy.
Thabiso has a vision that the Lord has given him, and he is walking in obedience as the Lord directs. The first church plant was at the Umphakatsi, or the chiefs place.
The chief was so blessed by what the Lord was doing, that he asked Thabiso and his team to come back to plant more churches in his chiefdom. Since then, Thabiso and his team have planted 4 others churches in this general area. These 4 smaller churches meet during the week as cell groups in peoples homes. Then on Sunday, they come together in a large rented building at the main church called "Breath of Life Church".
Two weeks ago Randy stopped at the gas station next to Breath of Life Church, because he had to leave something there for Pastor Thabiso (that is what you do here in Swaziland!!!). Mr. Masongo, the manager of the gas station, knows Thabiso very well because he attends Breath of Life Church. Mr. Masongo told Randy, "this community, this whole area is being transformed by the gospel and the work Thabiso is doing". He said, "prostitutes are getting born again, drunks and drug users are getting born again and their lives are changing because of Jesus Christ!"
The tent is usually up for 2 weeks for the church plant. Then, immediately after the tent comes down we provide Thabiso and his pastors with the 14 lesson Discipleship Course. They are able to help the new believers get grounded in their faith with the Word of God.
Please be praying for Thabiso, his group of pastors, and all these wonderful  people who have heard the gospel and responded to the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ!

Masekweni church was also planted by Thabiso and his team of pastors. This geographical area is very concentrated with people and there are very few churches in the area. So there was a large number of people who heard the gospel and responded.     Praise the Lord!!!

Bhamboo church was also planted by Thabiso and his group of pastors. Prior to putting up the tent for the new church plant, people from Breath of Life, main church, gather together and pray for the new community where the church will be planted. They also go door to door and invite people to the tent. If people are in need, they pray for them and bless them with food items and other essentials.

KaKhosa community is a very poor village outside the largest city in eSwatini.  There are many people living together in a very small area. There is a lot of poverty, high unemployment, many bars, loud music and illegal activity. This community needs Jesus!
Please pray for those that accepted Christ as they continue to live in this community. Pray that the community will be transformed by the gospel. Saturday was the last day of the church plant in KaKhosa, so on Sunday, everyone went to the main church, Breath of Life.

Nkwalini Zone 2

Nkwalini church plant is located in a highly populated village outside of Mbabane, one of the largest cities in eSwatini. Many people heard the gospel and responded. Pastor Maziya has started using the 14 lesson Discipleship Course and has almost 50 people attending the class.
Randy with Pastor Maziya from Nkwalini Zone 2, and Pastor William Fakudze, the evangelist who preached during the planting of the church. Pastor Maziya had 3 other pastor friends come together and support him during the church plant ...... Love seeing the body of Christ come together to help build the Kingdom of God!!!!
Praises and Prayer Requests:
  • We continue to praise the Lord for His tender loving care towards the Brennan. His grace continues to abound as we walk in obedience to His leading.
  • We are praising the Lord for His abundant provision in all areas of our lives, spiritually, physical health and financial provision.
  • We are also so thankful that our kids are also serving the Lord in full time ministry, (even though they are really far away:-)
  • Please continue to pray for the Pastors of the church plants, for grace, strength and wisdom as they shepherd the flock the Lord has entrusted to each of them.
  • Please pray for William Fakudze our friend and evangelist. He is currently in Kenya preaching at revivals all this week.
