Thanks to those who attended last week's refuse equipment meeting! For those who missed it, here is a recorded copy of the presentation.
Leash-law Refresher:
Lots of new pups in town, so it might be a good time for a leash-law refresher! Here is the portion of the relevant ordinance (No. 1107, § 5, 3-20-2013) that will most affect how you walk Fido:

A. Except in the UR unrestricted zoning district, the owner of a dog shall confine the dog on the owner's property, and when the dog is not on the owner's property, keep the dog at all times on a leash, in a kennel or other suitable enclosed container, or in an enclosed vehicle.
B. In the UR unrestricted zoning district, the owner of a dog shall prevent the dog from entering another person's property, but otherwise need not confine or restrain the dog.

Basically, you need your dog on a leash on any major road except:
  1. Past Mavis Island on the Copper River Highway.
  2. Past Skater’s Cabin on Power Creek Road.
  3. Past the baler on Whitshed Road.
For a map with a more detailed overview, click here. For questions about zoning, contact City Planner Leif Stavig at 424-6220. For questions about leash-laws, contact Public Safety at 424-6100.

Additionally, while we're on dogs, per Municipal Code 8.04.040:

Any person owning any dogs 6 months of age or older shall procure a dog license annually. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required to obtain a license.

Thanks for your cooperation! Woof!
We've finally got some cold weather: Don't let your pipes freeze! Dribble water through them to prevent this from happening. Make sure your heat tape is plugged in and working.
