Catering Trends: August 4th, 2015

It’s August! And as the peak of many of our summer picnic seasons is in sight, you will soon find yourself with a little time before ramping up for the holiday season. Now’s the time to ask those questions you’ve wondered about all summer but never had the time on which to focus.

Send us those marketing, business development and strategy-related questions—we promise that we answer everything you send our way.

This month, we bring you a slice of summer, a look at how nostalgia affects event planners, more branding education (it’s so important!), expensive wedding destinations and a peer-to-peer picnic that pairs new products with everybody’s favorite saga: Star Wars.

Caterer-Featured Tastes of the Summer

Summer bites that have guests drooling—these sun-inspired appetizers are mixing the best of the season (which isn’t over yet!). Grilled and smoked, pickled and plucked, sipped and dipped—the handful of caterers featured in this special events article share some of their most popular summer appetizer trends to date. Find out these caterers’ hot summer bites.

#TBT: Why Event Planners Use '80s and '90s Nostalgia to Connect at Events

‘80s and ‘90s cultural references are providing ways for consumers, Millennials in particular, to have brighter experiences with brands—and guess what? This idea of “nostalgia marketing” is leaking into event trends, too. Hastags like #tbt have led to the resurrection of games like Jenga, bands like TLC, and event themes like “I Heart the ‘90s”. See why you should use this in your event planning.

Maintaining Is Maximizing When It Comes To Your Brand

The lesson continues…with another installation of brand education. This time, we discuss what to do once you’re happy with your brand—including how to get the most out of it, when you need to develop a brand manager and why it might be a good idea to get everyone on the same page right now.

The Top 10 Most Expensive Places To Get Married

The title speaks for itself! These are the top 10 most expensive places to get married, of which catering is a large chunk. See how your region compares, or, for those in the top 10, see where you stack up.

Featured Event: Employee Company Picnic Meets Star Wars Food Stations

With the goal of incorporating the client’s new product lines into the picnic, Chicago-area caterer Tasty Catering was tasked with executing a themed picnic that also showcased some cool new items. Guests dined on food and sipped on drinks from stations like Jabba’s Palace of Chicago, Death Star Tacos, Chewbacca Chicken and Yoda Soda, each featuring a new product, at this Star Wars themed outdoor extravaganza. Read how they did it!
