President's Letter
Happy July Club Members,

We celebrated the July 4th weekend with our annual Food, Fireworks, and Fun event this year on July 2nd. Thank you for the enormous outpouring of donations and volunteer spots filled- this was awesome! We raised about $900 to go towards our new harness! It was a long, extremely hot day but fun! Special thanks to our new club members (just day two of official membership) who jumped right in and were wonderful to have on board: the Morris family- erecting tents, setting up in the sweltering heat, and selling goods all through the night; the Reardons- so grateful for your donations and help with the grill and sales. Thanks also to new adult member, Laurie, and Carol Brugger, and the Kruszewski and Feminella families, who withstood the sun and heat to help set up.  I am so thankful we had Jeff Rowley's fire extinguishers to put us on the "good list" with officials and for Kandis working some diplomatic miracle!
Chef Dave created delicious food and Kristen and Clint Perkins came up with the fantastic idea of selling ice cream! Thanks to Clint for the ice cream mobile! The ice cream was a wonderful success- thank you to both Perkins families for all your efforts to make this idea a reality. Speaking of the Perkins- Grace, Jason, Haley, and Taylor were a phenomenal sales team! Thank you to our coaches who donated items and stopped by to visit with us: Marisa, Karen, Deanna, Kristina. Special thanks to coach Lisa, coach Kandis, and coach Sydney who stayed the duration! Thank you Rowley family for all the work on the organizational side of the event and all your families hard work! I truly appreciate the Meikles, Kallins, Kruszewskis, Feminellas, Kaplans, Baizas, Rojas, Torres, and Russo families for pitching in so many hours! If you ever have a fly away tent- make sure you have Howard Meikle nearby!!! Whew- what a day... And night!

Our membership drive was a great success- we have nine new members and a terrific rate of returning members. Thank you everyone for signing up on time.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of your July- even though ice will be down, we will be working on upcoming socials and our Labor Day competition. Please keep reading for updated info!!

Labor Day Invitational Web Page

As we all know, it takes an army of Volunteers to run a competition. There are many spots available during the four days of competition - September 1st through the 4th - and this is a great opportunity for families to work side by side and get their required volunteer hours for membership done. We've been using VolunteerSpot for past few years; however, they have recently change their name and web address to (If you have bookmarked the old website, you might want to update it.)

Sign ups are now open for volunteers for the competition weekend. Please understand that times may change after registrations close; we will be in touch with you to let you know if they do.

If you have any questions, please email us at Visit our Volunteer Page or our Labor Day Page for more information. Click here to visit and get started picking your volunteer opportunities!
Yes, we are working on the 2016 Holiday Show already!!! And, yes, we are looking for a logo!

This year, because we've started a bit later than last year, we've already chosen the theme and title. We want you to come up with the logo. The Show Committee will look over all entries which are turned in by July 31st and choose the winning design (or designers if we decide to use elements from two or more designs). Here's the gist of it:
  • The name of our show is, "Holiday Playlist - An Ice Show for the Season."
  • We would like a logo to be designed by one or more of our members and/or their family members.
  • All entries need to be turned in either via paper or email by July 31st, 2016.
  • To turn in an entry via email, send it to with the words "Logo Contest" in the subject line. Please be sure to let us know who you are in the body of the email.
  • To turn in an entry on paper, you can give it to the Media Team (Lynda or Emily Rowley), Susan Geiger, or leave it in the club folder in the rec office.
  • The Show Committee reserves the right to choose more than one winner and mesh those logos together to come up with a new one.
Put your thinking caps on and lets see what you come up with!!

Club Apparel
We hope to see all of our club members wearing the club colors - blue and green - during our upcoming Labor Day competition. We do have club apparel available to order in several ways. Check out our FEFSC Store for all the ways to get the FEFSC Logo on a piece of clothing!
FEFSC CafePress Store
Don't forget to visit our Cafe Press store to find great apparel, gifts, and other items with our logo on it. We just added our logo for the upcoming Labor Day Competition! If your skater would like to collect tshirts from the competitions he or she has been in, this would be a great way to do just that.
We now have the Watercolours, Silhouettes, and Inspirations lines and are trying to add something new at least once a month - be sure to take a look often!

If you ever want a design on something that isn't in the store, contact us - we may be able to get it.  All proceeds come right back to our club - what a great way to spend your money and support our club at the same time!
Testing Reminder
If you or your skater is testing in Miami on August 5th, please send that information to our Test Chair, Clint Perkins, at . He needs to contact the club in Miami to let them know you are a member in good standing with our club. This also means that you must have already become or renewed your membership and paid your dues in order for him to say that you are in good standing. If you have any questions, please contact Clint at And good luck at the test!
Competition Cheer Form

We have a Competition Cheer Form on the left side of our Events Page at
If skaters who are going to a competition can fill that out as soon as possible, then the Media Team will compile the results and send an email out to everyone. Those who are going to be there will be able cheer for fellow club members and those who are not there can cheer from home.
Do your best, skate great, and have fun!!

Do you have a favorite place to buy skating related items? We are working on building a resource page for the website and would like your input. On the survey page, we've included a spot that you can tell us about your favorite places - please do let us know! You can click here on our survey page or email us at
Calling All Coaches!
The Coaches Page has been updated with the information of all the coaches who filled out a coaches form. We also included all Germain Arena coaches and their basic information in a table at the bottom of the page.
Our Coaches Page is the seventh top visited page in the last thirty days and is always in the top ten pages visited on our website. We love our coaches and want to make sure they are recognized for the professionals that they are.
If you are a Germain coach and would like to have one of the blocks with more information in them on our coaches page, please fill out the Coaches Form.  Thank you!

Safe Sport

U.S. Figure Skating and the Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club strive to provide a safe environment for its members, one that is free of abuse and harassment. All of our Board Members will be taking the SafeSport certification program and we encourage all skaters, parents and coaches to follow Safe Sport guidelines.

You can find more information about Safe Sport on our website or on the USFS website. Please contact us with any questions at

Just  a reminder - in light of the recent reports of stranger danger, it is even more important to make sure that each person (child or adult) is aware of their surroundings. Our Media Team will be wearing ID badges during events and any time they are taking pictures for the club.

Parents, please talk to your skaters.Tell them that they can come to any coach, rec employee, or club parent if they feel uncomfortable about any situation. Also tell your skaters to make sure that someone knows where they are if they are not on the Freestyle Ice and have not left for the day. Parents, please remind your skaters to be S.M.A.R.T. (Safety Means Always Recognizing Trouble).

Encourage Doing Great things Everyday!

Walker Morris and his family have been nominated for the July Project Edge award. Just two days officially in the club and they really stepped up for our July event. They spent hours sweating to set up tents and tables, donated items, and hours selling - not to mention they had to get a babysitter to do all this work! Thank you to the Morris Family for setting a great example for all of us!

Have you seen a skater go above and beyond to help or encourage another person (on or off the ice)? Do they excel in academics or art? Do they have another special talent? We want to hear about anything AWESOME a skater has done!

Please email us at with subject line: Project Edge and the skater's name. Give us a brief description of how the skater has been doing great things.  Skater's will be recognized in the newsletter and in the website news.
Project EDGE is a campaign created by Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club to Encourage Doing Great things Everyday in our skaters!
