January 2016 President's Letter
Happy 2016!
I hope everyone has enjoyed this holiday season and are excited to begin the new year!  I am very excited about how wonderful our Christmas Show went and the activities we have planned for the next few months!
Thank you to all for supporting our holiday show!  We all want to express gratitude for our first ever presenting sponsor, Perkins Realty Group!  We could not have been a success without your generous donation!  Thank you to our t shirt sponsor, Coastal Concrete - you made a fun idea possible!  Thank you for our tickets sponsorship from Naples Nephrology and our programs from the Feminella family!  Special thanks to the Rowley family for coordinating the happy ads and doing the lay out for our program and the Kruszewski family for doing such a fantastic job making that house light up! Thank you to the Stone Family, the Matuszak Family, and the Carroll Family for helping us so much with the props. The costume committee did a fabulous job and our show committee worked long and hard to put together a fantastic event!  Special thanks to our directors, Lisa Perri and Kandis Eckloff and their team of choreographers and coaches!  The programs and transitions were wonderful and flowed so nicely!  Spotlights were spot on thanks to Scott Cudmore, Roman Vickers, Ari Beck, and their crew of high school volunteers from Estero High and Bishop Verot.
If you would like a video DVD of our holiday show, please check our website for information for how to order one.  DVDs will be available during upcoming Saturdays during LTS as well.  A special photo CD will also be available to order. Special thanks to club member, Heidiemarie Burke for taking these wonderful pictures!
It is hard to believe, but the planning for next year's holiday show begins next week.  Please join us on Saturday, January 23rd at 9:30 to discuss the show and ideas for making next year's show even better.  We will also be discussing ideas for upcoming events and socials as well as the upcoming spring show in April!  There is so much to look forward to, so I am looking forward to partnering with each of you to make all of these opportunities fun and successful!  If you cannot make it on that Saturday - please check our website for other opportunities to meet with us.  If you would like to share ideas and/or suggestions to me personally, please do not hesitate to email, text  or meet with me.  I welcome your ideas!
Please join us in wishing club members, Paxton James and Zoe Larson, good luck as they travel to Nationals!  We are excited to have our club represented at this prestigious event by Paxton and Zoe -  and we are all so excited for them!  We will be having a Watch Party next Sunday at the Feminella's!  Please check our website and your email for more information and please join us!
We are jumping right into the new year with many events and opportunities.  I encourage you to be diligent in checking our website, reading your emails, and talking to each other when we are together at the rink.  It will be fun!

Nationals Watch Party
January 17th, 2016
3:30 - 6:30 PM
at the Feminella Residence

We will be doing a potluck fingerfood party to watch our very own Paxton and Zoe skate at Nationals. (Some portions may be pre-recorded.) Please RSVP by filling out the RSVP form on our Events Page.

We do not need paper plates, napkins, and such. We also do not need drinks. We do need food - any kind of finger foods (and sweets). The thought is that it will be something like a SuperBowl Party, but without the football and with some great people we know on the tv doing some awesome skating! Some ideas for food are: heavy appetizers like wings or little hot dogs, veggie tray, fruit tray, chips, dips, etc. If you don't know what you are bringing yet, that's okay - please do go ahead and sign up so that we can make sure we have enough of everything we are supplying.

We are asking that if you can carpool, please do so. If you don't know anyone to carpool with and live south of Germain, then please meet us there at 3:00 PM and we will carpool from there.

The Feminella address is 6871 Circle Drive, Ft. Myers, FL 33905; it will also be emailed upon receipt of the RSVP.

If you have any questions, contact us at

Holiday Show Media

We have a newly created page on our website specifically for the sale of our DVDs and Photo CDs. You can find the page here - named Media.

For our Holiday show, we had professional photographs taken by our own Heidimarie of Photographic Images, LLC. We are offering photographs in three ways and will make the CDs as they are ordered:
1. An email with only the photos of your skater - $3.00
2. A photo CD with the photos of all of the skaters that Heidimarie photographed, plus some candid shots shared by various people on the FEFSC Facebook Page, and the Holiday Show Logo for 2015 delivered to the rink - $5.00
3. The same photo CD as described above, but mailed to a U.S. address - $10.00

We had a videographer from Germain Arena video the Holiday Show. Our Media Team then took the raw footage and added; a Scene Selection Menu and the capability to go directly to each number, credits including each participant's name as well as our sponsors, and a group picture at the end.

We will make the DVDs as they are ordered. They can be delivered to the rink for $10 each or mailed anywhere in the U.S. for $15 each.

The order forms and paypal buttons are on our Media Page. You may also catch us with an order form during some of our upcoming events or during a Learn to Skate class and in those cases may pay with a check or cash. If you have any questions, please contact us at or

Order DVD or CD Here!
Show & Social Committee Meeting
As Susan mentioned in her letter, we will be having a Committee Meeting on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016 at 9:30 AM at the rink in one of the party rooms. We will be discussing our recent Holiday Show and going over what worked, what didn't, and what we need to improve upon. We will also be planning social activities for the coming months and begin planning for the Spring Show and our 2016 Holiday Show.
If you are unable to attend, but want to be a part of this Committee, or have something you want the Committee to hear, please contact Lynda at and she will make sure that your voice is heard during the meeting.
Volunteer Hours

If you have volunteered during the December 12th Holiday show, or the January 9th Germain Arena's Open House and did not log your hours with Volunteer Spot, please be sure to use the link on our volunteer page to log your hours.

Click here to download the meeting minutes from the November 9th, 2015 Board Meeting; we did not have a December meeting. The FEFSC Board has chosen to meet on the second Monday of the month. The next board meeting will be on Monday, February 8th, 2016 at 5:30 PM in one of the party rooms at Germain Arena. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Safe Sport

U.S. Figure Skating and the Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club strive to provide a safe environment for its members, one that is free of abuse and harassment. All of our Board Members will be taking the SafeSport certification program and we encourage all skaters, parents and coaches to follow Safe Sport guidelines.

You can find more information about Safe Sport on our website or on the USFS website. Please contact us with any questions at

Just  a reminder - in light of the recent reports of stranger danger, it is even more important to make sure that each person (child or adult) is aware of their surroundings. Our Media Team will be wearing ID badges during events and any time they are taking pictures for the club.

Parents, please talk to your skaters.Tell them that they can come to any coach, rec employee, or club parent if they feel uncomfortable about any situation. Also tell your skaters to make sure that someone knows where they are if they are not on the Freestyle Ice and have not left for the day. Parents, please remind your skaters to be S.M.A.R.T. (Safety Means Always Recognizing Trouble).

Encourage Doing Great things Everyday!

The Kruszewski Family - Rick, Kelly, Shelby, Sydney, and Sophie - have been nominated for this month's Project Edge recognition. The entire family has gone over and above in volunteering in the past year, especially during the 3rd of July Fun & Fundraising Event, Skate for Hope, the FEFSC Holiday Show, and more recently, the Germain Open House. Thank you all for your awesome spirit of endurance and generosity. It has been said that,

"Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something."  ~Author Unknown.

The Kruszewki Family has shown us in their own way that this statement is true. Each one of them will pitch in and help where ever and when ever they can. Thank you Kruszewski Family for showing us what a true volunteer looks like and 'doing great things'!

Have you seen a skater go above and beyond to help or encourage another person (on or off the ice)? Do they excel in academics or art? Do they have another special talent? We want to hear about anything AWESOME a skater has done!
Please email us at with subject line: Project Edge and the skater's name. Give us a brief description of how the skater has been doing great things.  Skater's will be recognized in the newsletter and in the website news.
Project EDGE is a campaign created by Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club to Encourage Doing Great things Everyday in our skaters!
FEFSC CafePress Store
Don't forget to visit our Cafe Press store to find great apparel, gifts, and other items with our logo on it. We now have the Watercolours, Silhouettes, and Inspirations lines and are trying to add something new at least once a month - be sure to take a look often!

If you ever want a design on something that isn't in the store, contact us - we may be able to get it.  All proceeds come right back to our club - what a great way to spend your money and support our club at the same time!
