President's Letter
Congrats to everyone and heartfelt thanks to all who helped with our Labor Day weekend!  It was a wonderful success!  Kudos to our Competition Chair and new Testing Chair – Danielle Larson and Kelly Kruszweski!  These ladies put in so many hours before, during, after, and behind the scenes!  I also want to thank Coach Scott Cudmore – his expertise and advice truly helped all events and aspects of the weekend run so smoothly!  Special thanks to club members The Rowley family, Catherine Feminella, Kristy Russo, Tammy and David Sykes, Lillia Baiza, Jennifer Morris, Kristen Perkins, Clint and Kelly Perkins, Coach Karen Roppelt, The Gras family, Tomoka Dabees, Hitomi Ratthe, Silvana Torres, Shelly McGovern, Laurie Krueger, Sharon Cochran, Heidemarie Burke, Gail Reardon, Trish Gordon, Kim Stone, Nicole Gagliardo, Alyce Buckley, BJ Hamilton, Marcela Petrasovic, Erin Kallin, Rebecca Rojas, Kerry Louderback-Wood, Carissa and Meah Carroll, Cheryl Carroll, Carrie Higgins, and Lauren's brother, Tyler Skaathun for putting in so many hours to help with this event.  Thank you so much to those of you who donated items – we truly appreciate your generosity!  Kelly Daniak for the goody bags and mirrors, Carissa Carroll for the cute goody bag items, Carrie Higgins for the ouch pouches (what a great idea!), and to one of our collegiate members all the way from Boston, Jennifer Sillars, (and her mom, Donna) with the goody bag hair ties!  Thank you also to the high school volunteers from Bishop Verot, we truly appreciate your help throughout this weekend and look forward to working with you again. Thank you everyone!
Mark your calendars for our Halloween Social on October 29th and for our holiday show on December 11th.  We will be having committee meetings to prep for these events so check our website, face book posts, and emails!  If you were not able to volunteer for our Labor Day event, these are two occasions to earn easy hours!
Do you have a business or know of someone who does who would like to be a show sponsor?  We have immediate opportunities for a business to be our presenting sponsor of our holiday show and a t- shirt sponsor.  Your business name will be proudly displayed on our show t shirts, in our program, announced at the show, and promoted on our website.  Please contact us right away!

There will be a test session on November 11th.  Please talk with your skater’s coach and check our website as well as to get more information.
There will be lots of holiday show information coming to you soon!  Please take the time to read and ask us questions.  We want all members to get involved!

Labor Day Competition
The 14th Annual Labor Day Invitational was a great success thanks to you all! This competition ran so smoothly because of a great volunteer force - we truly appreciate each and every one of you. As we always say, many hands make light work, and you all proved it this weekend!!!

If  you didn't sign in on the volunteer sheet at the competition, or on the website, but did volunteer, please be sure to enter your hours by going to our volunteer page.

We have some pictures on our Facebook page, our Instagram, and our Twitter account. We also have some pictures on our home page of our website. If you have pictures to share, please us at or share to our Facebook page (#fefsc or #fefsclaborday).

Results are up on our results page (scroll to the lower part of the page to see Labor Day). We've put together a quick survey to ask about the competition and how we did. Click the button below to take the survey.

Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are the backbone of our club. The only way that we are able to get anything done and move forward is by volunteers putting in the hours. We truly do appreciate your service to our club and our skaters.

You can find opportunities to serve in several ways. Check out our Volunteer Page to see what's coming up!

If you have any questions, please email us at
Holiday Show Committee Meeting
Speaking of volunteers ---the Holiday Show Committee is about to go warp speed ahead! We are having our first one tomorrow (Saturday the 24th) around lunch time!! (The place is still being determined, so if you would like to go, please email Lynda and she will make sure you are in the know before noon tomorrow!) If you want to be a part of things and can't make the meeting, please email Lynda at with your thoughts and suggestions and she will make sure that your voice is heard.
FEFSC Test Sessions
We now have test sessions set up for November 11th, 2016, March 18th, 2017, and May 19th, 2017. We have a new test form application that you can download here, or fill out online by going to our Test Form Page. Inventory Survey
We have so many items stored in many homes and offices that we would like to put together a master list and get an idea of what we have and where it's located. If you are storing FEFSC 'stuff', please click here and fill out the survey - and thank you!!!
Club Apparel
We hope to see all of our club members wearing the club colors - blue and green - during our upcoming Labor Day competition. We do have club apparel available to order in several ways. Check out our FEFSC Store for all the ways to get the FEFSC Logo on a piece of clothing!
FEFSC CafePress Store
Don't forget to visit our Cafe Press store to find great apparel, gifts, and other items with our logo on it. We've just added another watercolour skater - Grace - to the collection.
We now have the Watercolours, Silhouettes, and Inspirations lines and are trying to add something new at least once a month - be sure to take a look often!

If you ever want a design on something that isn't in the store, contact us - we may be able to get it.  All proceeds come right back to our club - what a great way to spend your money and support our club at the same time!
Video Interviews

Our Media Team Videographer, Emily, will be doing some short video interviews of club members over the next few months. The main question is really a finish the statement - "I like to figure skate because...?" We would like to put a series of these short, but fun videos onto our webpage and social media. And a reminder, Emily will always be wearing a Media badge while taking photos or video for the club.

Do you have a favorite place to buy skating related items? We are working on building a resource page for the website and would like your input. On the survey page, we've included a spot that you can tell us about your favorite places - please do let us know! You can click here on our survey page or email us at
FEFSC Board Meeting Minutes

Everyone is welcome to attend.
Safe Sport

U.S. Figure Skating and the Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club strive to provide a safe environment for its members, one that is free of abuse and harassment. All of our Board Members will be taking the SafeSport certification program and we encourage all skaters, parents and coaches to follow Safe Sport guidelines.

You can find more information about Safe Sport on our website or on the USFS website. Please contact us with any questions at

Just  a reminder - in light of the recent reports of stranger danger, it is even more important to make sure that each person (child or adult) is aware of their surroundings. Our Media Team will be wearing ID badges during events and any time they are taking pictures for the club.

Parents, please talk to your skaters.Tell them that they can come to any coach, rec employee, or club parent if they feel uncomfortable about any situation. Also tell your skaters to make sure that someone knows where they are if they are not on the Freestyle Ice and have not left for the day. Parents, please remind your skaters to be S.M.A.R.T. (Safety Means Always Recognizing Trouble).

Encourage Doing Great things Everyday!

We have a Double Edge Award announcement this month!

First, Danielle Larson was nominated for the September Project Edge award for her perseverance and accomplishment in getting our Labor Day Competition sanctioned and running year after year. We don't know all that goes into what she does, but we do know that she has a lot on her plate and still manages to get it done. Thank you, Danielle, for being a great example of how to keep on keeping on!

The second September Project Edge award is actually for several of our young skaters who put the 'pedal to the metal' (so to speak) during the competition weekend and jumped right in to assemble goody bags, run music, run results, play music, give awards, give goody bags, and cheer on their fellow club members. Thank you - Anna P., Carly M., Erin K., Grace P., Haley P., Jaimy P., Karalynn R., Kiara P., Michelle G., Nicole G., Sara F., Sarah G., Sasha R., Sophie K., Sydney M., Taylor P., and Walker M. - we couldn't have done it without you!!

Have you seen a skater go above and beyond to help or encourage another person (on or off the ice)? Do they excel in academics or art? Do they have another special talent? We want to hear about anything AWESOME a skater has done!

Please email us at with subject line: Project Edge and the skater's name. Give us a brief description of how the skater has been doing great things.  Skater's will be recognized in the newsletter and in the website news.
Project EDGE is a campaign created by Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club to Encourage Doing Great things Everyday in our skaters!
