From the Club President

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to share how thankful I am for each and every one of you!  I sincerely appreciate your time and the resources that you put into making our club great!  And yes, I do sincerely appreciate your ideas – both compliments and criticisms - this helps our club too!

Thank you to all who helped make our Halloween social a lot of fun!  Special thanks to Catherine Feminella, Emily Rowley, Kristy Russo, Lynda Rowley, Kristen Perkins for decorations, donations, taking pictures and clean up duty!  Everyone had a lot of fun!

We have begun preparing our holiday show props and selling tickets.  Please look on our volunteer spot or come meet with us each Saturday 9 – 12 to help and have fun!  Kelly Kruszewski, Lynda Rowley, and Catherine Feminella are super creative and the props are already beginning to take shape!  Special thanks to Kristy Russo, Tammy Sykes, Mary Gras, Hitomi Ratthe, Lilia Baiza , Katelyn Carroll, Silvana Torres, Shelly McGovern, and Melissa Kaplan for selling tickets and assisting!  Please participate in our ticket sales competition!  We have three terrific prizes for the member who sells the most! I can't say enough thanks to the ladies who have helped pull together the costumes, measure skaters and distribute the costumes --  Carissa Carroll, Sandy James, Michelle Matuszak, Kristen Perkins, and Silvana Torres. The show costumes are beautiful!

Our recent test session was a success – thanks to Clint Perkins, Catherine Feminella, and BJ Hamilton for running a great test and providing treats for our judges.  Congrats to all coaches and skaters for a job well done.

We are approaching the busy times for all of us – please remember to say thanks to a club member this week.  I appreciate all of you!

Holiday Show Announcements

Rehearsals are in full swing for our Holiday Show! Props are being built, painted, glued, taped, and put together in just about every way imaginable. Raffle Baskets are ready to be shown off. Ticket Sales Contest prizes are ready to be won! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around Germain Arena!!

Look below and throughout this newsletter for some of the ways that you can help this show be the best one yet!
  • Spread the Word: Print our advertisement flyer and hang it up on the bulletin boards in your community (please ask first!). When we send a Holiday Show Facebook announcement featuring the ad or talking about how to get tickets, share it on your own Facebook page. If you think of a place or way that we missed, please let us know!
  • Volunteer: We will need volunteers on show day - plenty of them! We have already begun to add the volunteer slots to VolunteerSpot and will update it as we decide what we truly need. This is the same link as the one for Ticket Sales - you'll need to look at December 12th, for the show day volunteer jobs.
  • Committee Meetings: We have Social and Show Committee meetings every Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. until the show. We are now working on putting together props during this time and welcome any help. If you have questions, suggestions, or just want to help out, please come to a meeting or email Lynda at
Holiday Show Ticket Sales Contest

Ticket Sales: We will be selling tickets at all of the Learn to Skate sessions in the month of November and the first few weeks of December. You can sign up to sell at one of those sessions on VolunteerSpot. The tickets are here and ready to hand out for the Ticket Sales Contest. You can pick up your tickets for the contest at this table as well.
As much as we promote the show, we have learned over the years that our skaters are our BEST salespeople! We ask that each skater think TEN. Please make that your goal!  This year, we have a fun ticket sales contest for the skaters. Any Club Member can participate in this contest. Sell tickets to your neighbors, family, friends, classmates, co-workers, religious organization, sports organization, scouts, etc.

Tickets for this year's Holiday Show are $10 each (children 3 years old and under are free). We are selling each Learn to Skate student a ticket for $5; this is only for the skater, the family is required to pay full price. Only full price tickets will count toward the contest.

As in the past, tickets are available via paypal on our website at If someone would like to give you credit for the ticket sale, they need to put your name in the memo portion of the paypal sale. All paypal ticket sales will need to bring a copy of their receipt to the 'will call' table to pick up their tickets.

Contest will end December 11th, 2015. All unsold tickets and money will need to be turned in by Dress Rehearsal. Any tickets sold on the day of the show do not count.  Winners to be announced during the show. Prizes will be distributed to winners during the following week. In the event of a tie, a coin flip will determine each winner.

  • *1st Prize: One Month Freestyle Card - $400
  • *2nd Prize: $300 Gift Card for Custom or Stock Boots from Harlick
  • *3rd Prize: $250 Gift Card for Boot/Blade Combo from Reidell
How you win:
  • *Each Club Member is eligible to participate in the ticket sale contest
  • *The individual members who sell the most tickets will be eligible to win one of three gift prizes.
  • *Remember: The ticket sale contest will end on Friday, December 11th, 2015.
Pick up/turn in tickets at the ticket sales table during any Learn to Skate session in November and early December. If you would like to work a ticket sales table, please go to our VolunteerSpot link to sign up. Volunteers working the tickets sales tables will split the number of sales for that hour for the purposes of the contest. If you have any questions, contact Lynda at
Holiday Show Advertising, Sponsors, Personal Ads
Sponsors/Advertisers: We are looking for sponsors and advertisers for our show. If you know of a business or company who might be interested, please give them this form or point them to our webpage. We will have a few physical forms available at the Ticket Sales Table during Learn To Skate sessions in November as well.
Personal Advertising: We are also looking for family and friends of skaters to purchase "Personal Advertising" for the programs. There are three options this year, FEFSC Shout Outs, Happy Grams, and Personal Message Ads. You can download this form, or go to the webpage here to sign up. We will have a few physical forms available at the Ticket Sales Table during Learn To Skate sessions in November as well.
Holiday Show Installment Due
If you have a skater in the Holiday Show, the next installment is due on Saturday, November 21st. You can drop your payment off with Susan or Lynda on Tuesday or Saturday mornings or you can pay via paypal on the Contract page of our website. You can also contact us at to set up a different time/place or method.
Raffle Baskets

We have put together four raffle baskets for the show and are already selling the tickets! We have a Movie Basket which has a DVD player, some great Christmas movies, popcorn, and more. We also have a Red Wine Basket, a Mixed Wine Basket, and a Figure Skater Basket. The tickets are $5.00 each and you can choose which basket you want your ticket to go for. Just stop by the Ticket Sales table during any Learn to Skate session or the Raffle Table on Show Day. We will draw the winners near the end of intermission on the day of the show.

Safe Sport

U.S. Figure Skating and the Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club strive to provide a safe environment for its members, one that is free of abuse and harassment. All of our Board Members will be taking the SafeSport certification program and we encourage all skaters, parents and coaches to follow Safe Sport guidelines.

You can find more information about Safe Sport on our website or on the USFS website. Please contact us with any questions at

Just  a reminder - in light of the recent reports of stranger danger, it is even more important to make sure that each person (child or adult) is aware of their surroundings. Our Media Team will be wearing ID badges during events and any time they are taking pictures for the club.

Parents, please talk to your skaters.Tell them that they can come to any coach, rec employee, or club parent if they feel uncomfortable about any situation. Also tell your skaters to make sure that someone knows where they are if they are not on the Freestyle Ice and have not left for the day. Parents, please remind your skaters to be S.M.A.R.T. (Safety Means Always Recognizing Trouble).

Encourage Doing Great things Everyday!

Have you seen a skater go above and beyond to help or encourage another person (on or off the ice)? Do they excel in academics or art? Do they have another special talent? We want to hear about anything AWESOME a skater has done!
Please email us at with subject line: Project Edge and the skater's name. Give us a brief description of how the skater has been doing great things.  Skater's will be recognized in the newsletter and in the website news.
Project EDGE is a campaign created by Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club to Encourage Doing Great things Everyday in our skaters!
FEFSC CafePress Store
Don't forget to visit our Cafe Press store to find great apparel, gifts, and other items with our logo on it. We now have the Watercolours, Silhouettes, and Inspirations lines and are trying to add something new at least once a month - be sure to take a look often!

If you ever want a design on something that isn't in the store, contact us - we may be able to get it.  All proceeds come right back to our club - what a great way to spend your money and support our club at the same time!
Throw Back Thursday
We are in need of more pictures for our Throw Back Thursday feature on Facebook. If you have any pictures that we can use, please send them to Emily at Thank you!
