President's Letter
Greetings Club Members,
I am counting my blessings… are you?  It may sound corny, but I am indeed thankful for our club, our coaches, and our tireless volunteers!  This club has provided an avenue for skill development, friendships, and opportunities for my skater as well as myself!

Our club and our realities are certainly not perfect and there are many times and instances in which I wish I had a magic wand to change things.  However, when I see skaters of all ages working, talking, laughing, supporting each other together – that is a blessing!  When I see coaches working together with the only goal of helping a skater achieve a goal – that is a blessing!  When I see volunteers coming together and creating successful events – that is a blessing!  Every test that is passed – that is a blessing!  A bank account in the black – that is a blessing!  I hope you are finding that our club is a blessing to your skater and family too.
A big thank you goes to Kelly Kruszweski for organizing such a well run test session and to Lynda Rowley for her countless hours getting our tickets, raffles, volunteers ready for our holiday show!  If you have not picked up your tickets please check our website or come to our table during show rehearsals.  Please share the word about our holiday show by printing a few flyers from our website and promoting at work, local shopping, and neighborhood.  Thank you to Kerry Wood for reaching out to our local media to promote our show.  We are have already been in local parenting publications!  Thank you to Lisa Perri and Danielle Larson for getting our holiday show costumes in –they are super cute!!!

We are so proud of club members, Nicole Gagliardo and Aaron Sykes, as they competed at Sectionals this past week!  We are also proud of our associate members who competed at Sectionals this week:  Zoe Larson, Erin Coleman, and Paxton James!  We are so proud of all of you!

Please promote the show, have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving, and tell a club member how you are thankful for them this week!  Many thanks to all of you!

Holiday Show News

***Remember - No Rehearsals This Friday! The next rehearsal is December 2nd.***

The Holiday Show tickets are here and are being sold during Learn to Skate at a table in the lobby. You can also pick up your tickets to sell there if you would like to be in the ticket sales contest. Tickets are also available for sale on the website via paypal on our Holiday page; if you'd like a skater to receive credit for the sale, put their name into the memo portion of the paypal sale. If paypal doesn't give you that portion, you can email Lynda at with the information and she will make sure the skater gets the credit.

Download a Holiday Show flyer here and start advertising for us please - put one up on your bulletin board at work, school, church, the library, etc (ask first if you need to!). Keep your eyes on your inbox for the announcement of the tickets being available for sale. We expect them to be printed and ready by the first weekend of November!
Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are the backbone of our club. The only way that we are able to get anything done and move forward is by volunteers putting in the hours. We truly do appreciate your service to our club and our skaters.

You can find opportunities to serve in several ways. Check out our Volunteer Page to see what's coming up!

If you have any questions, please email us at
FEFSC CafePress Store
Don't forget to visit our Cafe Press store to find great apparel, gifts, and other items with our logo on it. We've just added another watercolour skater - Grace - to the collection.
We now have the Watercolours, Silhouettes, and Inspirations lines and are trying to add something new at least once a month - be sure to take a look often!

If you ever want a design on something that isn't in the store, contact us - we may be able to get it.  All proceeds come right back to our club - what a great way to spend your money and support our club at the same time!
Video Update

Our Media Team Videographer, Emily, took a video during our opening number practice last week. The mannequin challenge video can be seen on our Twitter @fefsc1 and on our Instagram; it has also been shared on our Facebook. We will try to get it put onto our youtube channel soon. And a reminder, Emily will always be wearing a Media badge while taking photos or video for the club.

Do you have a favorite place to buy skating related items? We are working on building a resource page for the website and would like your input. On the survey page, we've included a spot that you can tell us about your favorite places - please do let us know! You can click here on our survey page or email us at

Safe Sport

U.S. Figure Skating and the Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club strive to provide a safe environment for its members, one that is free of abuse and harassment. All of our Board Members will be taking the SafeSport certification program and we encourage all skaters, parents and coaches to follow Safe Sport guidelines.

You can find more information about Safe Sport on our website or on the USFS website. Please contact us with any questions at

Just  a reminder - in light of the recent reports of stranger danger, it is even more important to make sure that each person (child or adult) is aware of their surroundings. Our Media Team will be wearing ID badges during events and any time they are taking pictures for the club.

Parents, please talk to your skaters.Tell them that they can come to any coach, rec employee, or club parent if they feel uncomfortable about any situation. Also tell your skaters to make sure that someone knows where they are if they are not on the Freestyle Ice and have not left for the day. Parents, please remind your skaters to be S.M.A.R.T. (Safety Means Always Recognizing Trouble).

Encourage Doing Great things Everyday!

Our November Edge Award goes to Sydney Kruszewski!

Sydney is one of our wonderful coaches who is always willing to jump in and lend a hand where ever she is needed. She has been skating since she was five years old, recently graduated from FGCU and is now a first grade teacher at a local elementary school. Sydney continues to coach at Germain in the evenings and on the weekends.

Sydney was nominated for the November Edge award because she was called and asked to come and help the younger kids during our show opening number practice; she came and did wonders with these kids. Sometimes, they just need someone to give them more one-on-one direction in a sea of big kids and Sydney was that person for them - willingly and cheerfully.

Thank you Sydney for being an example of being a dependable person who works hard, but does it with a smile on her face and while lifting those around her up. We couldn't ask for a better Edge recipient!

Have you seen a skater go above and beyond to help or encourage another person (on or off the ice)? Do they excel in academics or art? Do they have another special talent? We want to hear about anything AWESOME a skater has done!

Please email us at with subject line: Project Edge and the skater's name. Give us a brief description of how the skater has been doing great things.  Skater's will be recognized in the newsletter and in the website news.
Project EDGE is a campaign created by Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club to Encourage Doing Great things Everyday in our skaters!
