President's Letter

Summer’s here!  I wish everyone a safe and happy summer – whether you are traveling, training, or just relaxing!

Our annual awards banquet was a blast!  Thank you to the Kruszewski family for coordinating with the staff at the Sterling Oaks clubhouse.  The venue was perfect and the food was delicious!  Thank you to everyone for attending!  I think everyone had a wonderful time!  Special thanks to Catherine Feminella for preparing the awards, Lynda Rowley for preparing the Project Edge awards and presentation, Danielle Larson for preparing the testing awards, and to Kelly Kruszewski for preparing the coaches gifts.  They were all lovely!  I also wanted to thank Howard Meikle and Emily Rowley for coming to my aid with my “technology difficulties”!  Special shout out to our set up and clean up crew: Lynda Rowley and family, Catherine Feminella, Kelly Kruszewski, Kristy Russo!  A note of sweet thanks to Catherine and Kelly for preparing the goody bags and pots for the skaters!  So cute!

We have many new members who have joined us already for this upcoming club year – check out new member Nichole on page 25 in the latest copy of Skating magazine!  Please encourage your skating friends to join or renew their membership.  There is a special discount for home club members and parent/guardian members if you renew by July 1st

If you are in town for the July 2nd celebrations at Miromar, please consider spending part of your day/night with us!  We will be setting up in the parking lot of Germain around 11am.  We need tents, chairs, tables, coolers, ice, sodas, water, sweets, patriotic goodies like glow sticks and sunglasses, and helpers!  We will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs again this year so if you would like to make a monetary donation to defray the cost of the meat and charcoal – we would greatly appreciate it!  We hope to raise $1000 this year!  Please check Volunteer Spot on our website for opportunities to donate and/or help out!  Many, many thanks!

Harness update:  we will not have the new harness installed this month as hoped.  However, thanks to research by Kristen Perkins and Clint Perkins, we have found a better model of equipment and are planning on having this harness installed in time for use when our ice is re – installed in early August.  We hope you will find it worth the wait!

I hope to see and speak with many of you as we continue our membership drive and plan our July 2nd event and look ahead to upcoming events!

~Skate on!

It is necessary to have your membership current to compete, test, and participate in club activities.
Our club does have some incentives in place for this season:

Your membership supports Florida Everblades FSC and US Figure Skating -a portion of your membership dollars goes to US Figure Skating. The rest of the money supports our club operations right here in Estero, Florida.  Your membership dollars cover our monthly operating expenses for things such as testing fees, storage/pod unit, mail/office expenses, club ice, etc.  The membership monies and fundraising dollars also allow us to have celebrations and functions throughout the year such as parties, competitions, purchase of special equipment, and awards to our skaters.

  • Become a member of a team and show your pride with a Club Jacket.
Club Member Benefits:
  • Becoming a member provides both Skater and Parent the opportunity to meet new people involved in the sport of figure skating. Networking is a great way to educate yourself and grow as a Skater/Skater Parent whether you are involved recreational or competitive track.
  • Participation in club sponsored events such as shows, parties and also an opportunity for Skater/Skater Parent to participate in annual community involvement events for volunteerism.
Our club exists because of its members. We are focusing on growing our membership and club offerings. All of our club’s success comes from its volunteers and we thank our members for the hours given. In the 2015-16 year, we had over 800 volunteer hours given by the hands of our members – what an awesome group of people we have! This year volunteer hours will continue to be tracked by signing up on VolunteerSpot or reporting via the web site. We are excited to announce that we will be allowing members to donate certain goods for up to half of their service hours this year. More details will be coming forth on that in a special, “Volunteers Information Newsletter”.  With all members in the club engaged, we can do great things. Please read the “Volunteer Hour Information.pdf” and be ready for an exciting year!
  • Last Week of October – Halloween Skating Exhibition/Costume Party
  • First/Second Week December – Annual Holiday Skating Show

July 2nd Food Fun & Fireworks

We are planning now for a great July 2nd! If you would like to be part of the planning committee, we are meeting tomorrow morning (6/11/16) at 9:00 AM at Germain. If you cannot make it, but have something you want us to talk about, just email Lynda at and she will make sure it's brought up.

Please be sure to put July 2nd on your calendar as a day to spend with the club at the rink - in the parking lot! We will need donations and volunteers for that day and the VolunteerSpot will be on our Volunteer Page as soon as it is finalized.

Check out our CafePress Store for apparel with our July 2016 logo on it. If you order now, you can get it in time to wear on that day - and the club gets a percentage of the profits!

Thank You Coaches!
The Coaches Page has been updated with the information of all the coaches who filled out a coaches form. We also included all Germain Arena coaches and their basic information in a table at the bottom of the page.
Our Coaches Page is the fifth top visited page in the last thirty days and is always in the top ten pages visited on our website. We love our coaches and want to make sure they are recognized for the professionals that they are.
If you are a Germain coach and would like to have one of the blocks with more information in them on our coaches page, please fill out the Coaches Form.  Thank you!

Click here to download the meeting minutes from the May 9th, 2016 Board Meeting. The FEFSC Board has chosen to meet on the second Monday of the month. The next board meeting will be on Monday, June 13th, 2016 at 5:30 PM in one of the party rooms at Germain Arena. Everyone is welcome to attend.
FEFSC CafePress Store
Don't forget to visit our Cafe Press store to find great apparel, gifts, and other items with our logo on it. We just added our logo for the upcoming Spring Show! If your skater would like to collect patches or tshirts from the shows he or she has been in, this would be a great way to do just that.
We now have the Watercolours, Silhouettes, and Inspirations lines and are trying to add something new at least once a month - be sure to take a look often!

If you ever want a design on something that isn't in the store, contact us - we may be able to get it.  All proceeds come right back to our club - what a great way to spend your money and support our club at the same time!
Safe Sport

U.S. Figure Skating and the Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club strive to provide a safe environment for its members, one that is free of abuse and harassment. All of our Board Members will be taking the SafeSport certification program and we encourage all skaters, parents and coaches to follow Safe Sport guidelines.

You can find more information about Safe Sport on our website or on the USFS website. Please contact us with any questions at

Just  a reminder - in light of the recent reports of stranger danger, it is even more important to make sure that each person (child or adult) is aware of their surroundings. Our Media Team will be wearing ID badges during events and any time they are taking pictures for the club.

Parents, please talk to your skaters.Tell them that they can come to any coach, rec employee, or club parent if they feel uncomfortable about any situation. Also tell your skaters to make sure that someone knows where they are if they are not on the Freestyle Ice and have not left for the day. Parents, please remind your skaters to be S.M.A.R.T. (Safety Means Always Recognizing Trouble).

Encourage Doing Great things Everyday!

Have you seen a skater go above and beyond to help or encourage another person (on or off the ice)? Do they excel in academics or art? Do they have another special talent? We want to hear about anything AWESOME a skater has done!

Please email us at with subject line: Project Edge and the skater's name. Give us a brief description of how the skater has been doing great things.  Skater's will be recognized in the newsletter and in the website news.
Project EDGE is a campaign created by Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club to Encourage Doing Great things Everyday in our skaters!
Competition Cheer Form

We have a Competition Cheer Form on the left side of our Events Page at
If skaters who are going to a competition can fill that out as soon as possible, then the Media Team will compile the results and send an email out to everyone. Those who are going to be there will be able cheer for fellow club members and those who are not there can cheer from home.
Do your best, skate great, and have fun!!
