FEFSC -  Stranger Danger Alert
View this email in your browser
Hello FEFSC Skaters, Parents, and Friends,

Earlier this afternoon, July 23rd, the Collier County Sheriff's Office posted a news release about a suspicious incident involving a child. I've copied and pasted the release from their website in the box below for you. I became aware of this incident through Neapolitan Magazine's facebook post about it and saw a comment which caused me to become a little more concerned. In this comment, the mom said that there was a person matching that description that was taking pictures of a child on the playground in Bonita and when called out on it, she ran away. I have also copied and pasted the comment below, but have left the woman's name off.

These incidents are enough to cause concern for sure, but in light of the stranger danger that I posted about in May, it is even more important to make sure that each person (child or adult) is aware of their surroundings. Our Media Team will be wearing ID badges during events and any time they are taking pictures for the club.

Parents, please talk to your skaters.Tell them that they can come to any coach, rec employee, or club parent if they feel uncomfortable about any situation. Also tell your skaters to make sure that someone knows where they are if they are not on the Freestyle Ice and have not left for the day. Parents, please remind your skaters to be S.M.A.R.T. (Safety Means Always Recognizing Trouble).

Stay safe,
Lynda Rowley

CCSO Investing Suspicious Incident Involving A Child

Posted Date: 7/23/2015 1:00 PM

The Collier County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious incident involving a child that was reported to have taken place Tuesday at the Collier County Library branch at 2385 Orange Blossom Drive in North Naples.

The child's mother contacted CCSO on Wednesday and told deputies that a Hispanic woman about 30 years attempted to speak with her 1-year-old daughter at the library Tuesday afternoon. The woman spoke at first in Spanish and then in English. She reached her hand out to the child and said, "Let's go. Take my hand." When the woman noticed that the mother was staring at her, she hurriedly left the library.

The woman is described as 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 3 inches tall with a slender build and dark hair pulled in a bun. She was wearing sunglasses. At no time did the woman and the child make physical contact.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Collier County Sheriff's Office at 239.252.9300. Or, to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 1.800.780.8477.

The comment from a Facebook user:

There was another person with the same exact same description taking pictures of my daughters friend on the playground in Bonita and when called out on it she ran towards the library and got in her van. She told the girls she was going to the library in a panic and jumped in her van. Something is up.
