President's Letter
Greetings Club Members & Friends,
The Road to Rio Spring Show was a success for our club! The Learn To Skate families really enjoyed the experience and our club skaters did an excellent job. Many thanks go to our wonderful volunteers! Tammy Sykes, Kelly Kruszewski, Kristin Kotynski did a fabulous job on the props and decorations! The Rowley family, Coaches Jamie, Karen, and Lauren are the fastest with the tape dispenser that I have ever seen! Carrisa Carroll was our fabulous announcer and Kristy Russo, Catherine Feminella, and Lynda Rowley did a fantastic job keeping everything organized and running smoothly. New volunteer Howard Meikle is our new and awesome door security guard! Great job Coach Kandis on directing a fun show and to all our coaches who helped, choreographed, and participated. Did you see our thunderously awesome junior and collegiate coaches/skaters Nicole, Taylor, Deanna, Mikaela and Lauren?!
We recently held our annual meeting to vote for board members. Our new board consists of: Kelly Kruszewski, Clint Perkins, Kristen Perkins, Catherine Feminella, Lynda Rowley, Kristy Lee Russo, Danielle Larson, Lisa Geltz-Perri, and Susan Geiger. Please feel free to contact any of us with questions, concerns, or ideas you may have to share!
Our Annual Awards Banquet will be held June 4th from 5 – 9. That’s less than a month away so please check our website and the e-vite that was sent to all members. This year we are holding our banquet in the clubhouse of the Sterling Oaks community. This is not far away from the rink, right off 41 just south of Bonita Beach Road. We have a delicious menu to choose from, we will have an award for each skater, music, interactive games (bring your cell phone!), and dancing! RSVP, dress up, and attend for a really fun evening!
Our club calendar year is winding down. We have just a few members who still need to complete their ten required volunteer hours. We have a few opportunities left before June 30th, so please check out our website, email messages, and contact Susan Geiger or Lynda Rowley.

Speaking of volunteer hours, a special note of thanks goes to Anne Richter and Michelle Anselmi for making reminder calls. Kristin Kotynski, B.J. Hamilton, and Eileen Kallin have been manning the Membership Drive Table and have been doing an awesome job! We appreciate all of our volunteers - thank you!
Renewal time is here! Please renew your club membership before July 1st to take advantage of our early bird discount! Also, if you have a friend who would be a brand new club member – please let them know that they can join for just $100 (parent $40) during the month of May! Spread the word!

~Skate on!

Membership Drive
Many of you may have seen the Membership Drive tables set up during Learn to Skate this month. We are running a special for skaters who are new to USFS, and therefore new to the club. Those new Active Home Members can sign up in the month of May for $100; the parent/guardian cost is $40.

Returning Active Home Club members, we have not left you out of the discount! If you renew and pay in full before July 1st, you will pay $15 less for just the member, $30 less for the member and the parent/guardian.

Signing up or renewing is easy - just go to and fill out the membership form, then pay via paypal at the bottom of the page.
Volunteer Hours

We have collectively served over 775 volunteer hours so far this year! What an awesome bunch of people we have in this club!! Many of you have already fulfilled your 10 hours required to be a club member and still keep coming and helping and we are so very much appreciative of your helping hands.

We have two Saturdays left of the May Membership Drive and the Pod Clean Out/Inventory Day this Saturday. Click on the names in order to go to the VolunteerSpot for each activity and sign up ASAP! If you cannot serve in either of these two places, contact Susan at to find out if she has a job that you can do.

Please be aware that as our year winds down, so does the amount of volunteer hours available.
If you need to know how many hours you have served, contact Lynda at
And please, even if you've surpassed your 10 hour quota, we would love to have your help if you are able and available!

Do you have a favorite place to buy skating related items? We are working on building a resource page for the website and would like your input. On the survey page, we've included a spot that you can tell us about your favorite places - please do let us know! You can click here on our survey page or email us at
Thank You Coaches!
The Coaches Page has been updated with the information of all the coaches who filled out a coaches form. We also included all Germain Arena coaches and their basic information in a table at the bottom of the page.
Our Coaches Page is the third top visited page in the last thirty days and is always in the top ten pages visited on our website. We love our coaches and want to make sure they are recognized for the professionals that they are.
If you are a Germain coach and would like to have one of the blocks with more information in them on our coaches page, please fill out the Coaches Form.  Thank you!

Safe Sport

U.S. Figure Skating and the Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club strive to provide a safe environment for its members, one that is free of abuse and harassment. All of our Board Members will be taking the SafeSport certification program and we encourage all skaters, parents and coaches to follow Safe Sport guidelines.

You can find more information about Safe Sport on our website or on the USFS website. Please contact us with any questions at

Just  a reminder - in light of the recent reports of stranger danger, it is even more important to make sure that each person (child or adult) is aware of their surroundings. Our Media Team will be wearing ID badges during events and any time they are taking pictures for the club.

Parents, please talk to your skaters.Tell them that they can come to any coach, rec employee, or club parent if they feel uncomfortable about any situation. Also tell your skaters to make sure that someone knows where they are if they are not on the Freestyle Ice and have not left for the day. Parents, please remind your skaters to be S.M.A.R.T. (Safety Means Always Recognizing Trouble).

Encourage Doing Great things Everyday!

Have you seen a skater go above and beyond to help or encourage another person (on or off the ice)? Do they excel in academics or art? Do they have another special talent? We want to hear about anything AWESOME a skater has done!

The Feminella Family has been nominated for the Project Edge recognition this month. Sara has been known to 'go on with the show', even though she was injured. Catherine is always ready to help out wherever she is needed and sometimes even when we didn't know we needed it! Tom is the steady hand that keeps the Feminella team going. We appreciate the Feminella Family for Encouraging us to Do Great things Everyday!

Please email us at with subject line: Project Edge and the skater's name. Give us a brief description of how the skater has been doing great things.  Skater's will be recognized in the newsletter and in the website news.
Project EDGE is a campaign created by Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club to Encourage Doing Great things Everyday in our skaters!
Competition Cheer Form

We have a Competition Cheer Form on the left side of our Events Page at
If skaters who are going to a competition can fill that out as soon as possible, then the Media Team will compile the results and send an email out to everyone. Those who are going to be there will be able cheer for fellow club members and those who are not there can cheer from home.
Do your best, skate great, and have fun!!
