From this Sunday...
Neither you, I, nor Boris Johnson(!) can say with any certainty when we might be able to begin meeting again as church, in church. We have no idea when we'll be able to start using our building again (for a fuller statement about this, please see our website: www.colwellbaptistchurch.co.uk)...however, lots of us are very hopeful that it will be sometime soon.
I have a growing conviction that the thing we must begin using the church for, as and when we can, is PRAYER. And I genuinely do believe that God has prompted me about this...from this coming Sunday, I intend to open up the church at 9am for just thirty minutes...and I invite as many others as would like to come, to join me. I won't "lead" anything, and I won't "guide" a time of prayer...we'll have to wear face-masks and be socially distanced. We can pray out loud from behind our masks and we can gather together to pray in this way. Only about 13-14 people (or bubbles) will be able to come...that's all we have room for if we're practicing social distancing. Pews will be marked so you will know where you can sit and where you can't. It won't be a time for catching up, sharing news, or general chit-chat...but if you, like me, share a conviction that the FIRST regular use of our church building in a post-pandemic world must be prayer, then please do come - not to talk to each other but to talk, together, to God.
