Good Friday...

Tomorrow is Good Friday and, after a two-year break due to Covid, the Churches Together in West Wight are once again holding a united walk of witness in Freshwater during the morning.

I would love for as many of us as are able, to join in with this very public display of church unity and witness, as we remember and reflect together on the events of Good Friday. To take part in the walk, please assemble with others in the car park of the Freshwater Memorial Hall at 10am. The walk will process down the High Street to the green in front of the village library (on School Green Rd), where we will hold a short outdoor service at 10.30am. I believe that the Methodist church will then host an informal time of fellowship afterwards, when tea and hot cross buns will be available.

Easter Sunday...

For those who are really keen, there will be a CTWW sunrise service on the beach at Freshwater Bay, beginning at 5.45am! If you are out of bed and up and about at that time, then I will see you there!

If, instead, you plan to get up at a more civilised hour on Sunday(!), then please do come to our Easter Celebration service at CBC, beginning at 10.15am. We will sing some wonderful Easter choruses and hymns. The teenagers from Youthscape will be staying with us for the duration of the service and taking part in a special “true or false” quiz. We will also welcome seven new people into church Membership, and I’ll be reflecting on the truth of who Christ is as the “visible image of the invisible God”…or (as J.John puts it), “God in a bod”!

Please pray...

Some of us may already be aware that Janet Grimwood was taken into St Mary's hospital last week with acute abdominal pain. I have spoken several times with Frank, who has let me know that Janet's been diagnosed with pancreatitis, a chest infection, and a stone in her liver. Doctors attempted to perform a procedure to remove the stone today, but Janet reacted very badly and became extremely poorly. After intervention from the ICU team, she is now stable and well again, but the doctors were unable to complete the procedure and are reassessing what kind of treatment they think would most benefit and help Janet.

Please do be praying for Janet, for Frank and the whole family - and, of course, for others in the church fellowship who are also unwell at the moment.
