News and Thanks

Welcome to our first CFFD Auckland Newsletter for 2015. We hope that you have had a good refreshing break over the Christmas and New Year period.

The committee has started this year with a planning day to plan for what is ahead for 2015. If you are reading the email version scroll down to see dates for this year or if you are reading the printed version turn over for this years dates.

We are starting 2015 with a Picnic at Cornwall Park. This will be held on Saturday 21st February from 11am to 2pm. Meet near Band Rotunda and bring your own picnic and seating. If it is raining the picnic will be on Saturday 28th February instead.

We have a sausage sizzle fundraiser coming up on Saturday 7th March. Contact Jean for details if you would like to help with this.

Our camp this year will be from Friday 27th March to Sunday 29th March. Our camp speaker this year is Celia King. The theme of camp is 'The Promises of God'. Camp forms with more information will be released shortly. This information will also be available on the camp page of our website along with online registration and payment information.

We will have a free pre-camp training day on Saturday the 14th March from 9 am to 12:30 pm at St Johns Presbyterian Church. This is for all helpers coming to our camp, but everyone is welcome. At 1:30 pm there is a time for Friends of CFFD to assist with camp preparation. We need people to come along to help us with the things that need to be done before camp. Morning tea is provided.

Area Groups

The West Group are meeting on Friday 20th February at Liberty Church, 96 Lansford Crescent, Avondale (off Wolverton Street). 7.00pm – 8.30pm. Come along and enjoy some fun, fellowship and food. Please bring a plate for supper. Other meeting dates for this year are 24th April, 19th June, 14th August, 9th October and 4th December.

How can you help us this year?

Help is always appreciated! You can assist by... Providing transport, sponsorship of people coming to our events and the camp, Church visits, assisting with Sausage sizzles, and helping at the events. Please ring or email Jean if you can assist.

There is a Sausage Sizzle fundraiser on Saturday 7th March in Mt Wellington to raise funds for CFFD Auckland. We need people to help throughout the day with the Sausage Sizzle fundraiser. Contact Jean if you would like to help.

Pre-Camp Training morning

There is a free pre-camp training morning on Saturday 14th March at St Johns, 422 Mt Albert Road, Mt Roskill from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. This is for helpers who are coming to our Auckland camp who would like to find out what is involved in helping those with disabilities at our camp. Morning tea is provided. Please RSVP to Jean.

Friends of CFFD - Camp Preparation

In the afternoon from 1:00pm at St Johns we are having a time to prepare for our camp. We need people to come along who would like to help us, especially our Friends of CFFD with what needs to be done before camp. If you can draw or paint or are great at planning activities or other things please come and help us.

If you are coming to the Pre-Camp training day in the morning please bring your own lunch for a lunch break between 12:30pm and 1pm.

15 August – Social event / Dance (please bookmark this date!)
19 September - Ladies day
3 October - National camp seminar (date to be confirmed) for helpers that are coming to the National camp
23 -26 October - National Camp
21 November - Christmas Dinner

There will also be a Guys day out sometime in the second half of the year. Date to be decided and confirmed.
