New Study - 87% of People Think Recycling is Important

We recently polled 2,000 individuals about climate change and recycling – what we found is pretty refreshing. Climate change is not only on everyone’s minds – no really, 96% percent of people – but this overwhelming majority is also interested in doing something about it.
We found that 81% of people want to find ways to create less waste and 87% feel that recycling is important.
This is great, right? Well, here’s the catch: 73% of those surveyed are unsure about what is recyclable, and millennials (22-38) are the most unsure. This means that many residents – and a major target demographic – have a strong desire to recycle for the good of the planet, but need a little extra help to make that happen.
Luckily, The Recycling Partnership has many tools for you to educate those residents. Check out our GHG Calculator and Recycling 101s . Let’s educate this captive audience and empower them to recycle more and better.

Join us in July to Talk About Plastic Film!

Tune in to our July webinar on July 24th at noon as we talk about plastic film and flexible packaging!
Film is impossible to avoid and increasingly showing up in our recycling stream – and pouches? Yikes. So how should we educate about these hard to recycle plastics? Ever wonder where they go when taken back to the store for recycling? And does anyone actually do this?
Join us to discuss how to communicate to your residents about plastic film and find out the scoop on current status and emerging trends related to film and flexible packaging recycling.

Central Ohio Rolling Out Carts

Hats off to the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO), who recently rolled out larger, more efficient carts to 38,000 households in five different communities in Franklin County, utilizing a grant from The Recycling Partnership. With this grant, all households in Franklin County are now outfitted with 65-gallon recycling carts. Collecting recycling with lidded carts increases collection efficiency, makes recycling more convenient for residents, increases capacity for households to collect and store recyclables, and prevents material from blowing when set out for collection.
SWACO is a great example of carts being implemented in a community that impacts a lot of people on a large scale. Through our cart grant, you can do it too! We’ve recently updated our RFP to increase the funds and flexibility.
