No Fair? No Problem! Virtual Dairy Showcase Puts New Spin on Old Favorites
2020 Virtual State Fair: Butter Sculpture Behind the Scenes
Missing the fun and excitement of the New York State Fair? No problem – ADA North East will be bringing the cow shows, milkshake contest, dairy princess parade and the world-famous butter sculpture to you. Tune in at 10 a.m., every day this week to get a virtual slice of the state fair through a series of videos posted on our Facebook page. Enhance the experience by pouring a 25-cent glass of cold chocolate milk, grab a slice of cheese, and pretend you’re there at the fairgrounds!

Dairy farmer Abbey Copenhaver of Ivy Lakes Dairy, Stanley, N.Y., is serving as the farmer-host for all the videos. Monday’s video featured enthusiastic young farmers from Lamb Farms in Oakfield, N.Y., Country Ayre Farms in Dewittville, N.Y., and Tigerlily Holsteins in Oxford, N.Y., demonstrating how to prepare their dairy cattle for the showring at the fair.

Today’s video offers a sneak peak, behind-the-scenes interview with butter sculptors Jim Victor and Marie Pelton of Conshohocken, Pa.

22,400 Gallons of Milk to Make its Way to New York and Pennsylvania Families this Week
Five milk drives are scheduled in Pittsburgh, Pa., and surrounding communities this week – Monessen, Crafton, Hastings, Washington and Ambridge – along with four drives in Fabius, Oswego, Herkimer and Saratoga, N.Y., plus a distribution to the Salvation Army in Syracuse. The Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) government-funded grants have made it possible for community organizations to provide much needed food, plus the 22,400 gallons of milk purchased from processors Schneider’s Dairy, Dairy Farmers of America and Upstate Niagara Cooperative.
