Themed “Nourishing Our Future,” the 52nd
annual ADA North East butter sculpture pays tribute to those who ensure children are nourished and learning. The 800-pound sculpture depicts a dairy farmer providing milk to a child learning from home with his mother and a virtual teacher present in a laptop screen, and to a child learning in school with a school nutrition worker delivering a meal tray to the classroom. New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Commissioner Richard Ball and dairy farmer Lisa Porter of Porterdale Farmers, Adams Center, N.Y., participated in the unveiling.
After deconstruction, the butter will go to Noblehurst Farm in Linwood, N.Y., for recycling in their methane digester.
