Eleven Milk, Food Distribution Events Slated this Week in Pennsylvania, New York
Milk Distribution with Schneider's Dairy and Westmoreland County Food Bank
Eleven food and milk distribution opportunities for local families are slated this week in New York and Pennsylvania. ADA North East is working with USDA-Approved vendors, dairy processors and community organizations to help distribute more than 2,100 boxes of dairy foods, each weighing 20 pounds to New York families. Pennsylvanians will have access to more than 6,800 gallons of Schneider’s Dairy and Harrisburg Dairies milk. The Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) and Nourish New York government-funded grants have made it possible for the community groups to provide the much-needed milk and food to those in need.
  • New York sites include East Syracuse, Fulton, Colton, Ballston Spa, Herkimer, Madrid and Cape Vincent. 
  • Pennsylvania locations include Greensburg, Jeanette and Johnstown, in addition to a distribution through the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. 
15,000+ Coaches Learn Ways to Fuel Endurance with Dairy for High School Athletes
As part of ADA North East’s Sports Nutrition Advisory Panel educational series, more than 15,000 high school coaches received “Fueling Endurance Sports for Optimal Performance,” to help athletes train for fall endurance events like long-distance running as students return to school. Developed by registered dietitian Molly Moran, the fact sheet highlights using chocolate milk as a recovery drink after a strenuous workout to deliver a balance of carbohydrates, protein and fluids. The Sports Nutrition Advisory Panel is an an 11-person group of health professionals who serve as spokespersons for dairy.
Dairy Checkoff-Led Teen Milk Drink – Siips – Hits Midwest Stores
As part of Dairy Management Inc.’s fluid milk revitalization efforts to target improving the youth milk experience it partnered with Dairy Farmers of America to develop Siips. The new 100-percent real low-fat milk product uses relevant packaging and flavors to appeal to teens and ‘tweens, including chocolate, mocha and caramel flavors. Siips is currently in test markets in Midwest U.S.
