It's hard to believe how fast July flew by! We have a relaxing end to the summer ahead of us, and will continue to feature some of our favorite activities while the sunshine and warm weather persists!

Please take a moment to read through our exciting July recap for news and updates that have taken place at Mercantile Center and around Worcester throughout the past month.

Cheesburgers in Paradise!

Tenants of Mercantile Center enjoyed the second year of our Jimmy Buffett-themed lunch, "Cheeseburgers in Paradise"!

With the sun shining again for us this year, Jimmy Buffett outfits were everywhere as many of our tenants joined in on the costume contest for the chance to win Jimmy Buffett concert tickets at Xfinity Center this August.

Although there could only be one winner for the concert tickets, we want to congratulate our top finalists, showing off their outfits below!

July Live Music Ends with a Celebration!

Wednesday Live Music performances have been awesome during July. To close out this month's lineup, we proudly welcomed the Dempsey Sisters back to the stage. Featuring a special appearance by Fidelity Bank's Frosty Flyer Ice Cream Truck, this summertime celebration was the perfect way to head into August!

New Summer Art

ArtsWorcester is proud to present at the Mercantile Center Variations in Blue, a collection of works by Amy Klausmeyer. Using monotype prints, ephemera, altered images, and handmade papers, Klausmeyer creates mixed media assemblages and collages.

Klausmeyer juxtaposes modern techniques with vintage images to create pieces that provoke personal reaction and understanding. Of the intention behind her work, the artist cites "my hope is that through the combination of seemingly dissimilar images constructed in a provocative way, the viewer can use their imagination and interpret a meaning which is personal to them."

A native of the Boston area, Amy Klausmeyer earned a BFA in Painting and Printmaking, and has taken classes at the Worcester Art Museum. She has exhibited at locations throughout Central Massachusetts, including ArtsWorcester, the Fitchburg Art Museum, and the Worcester Center for Crafts. ArtsWorcester, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, engages artists and the public to advance and celebrate contemporary art. Our galleries across the Common, at 44 Portland Street, are open and free to all.
