Congrats, we made it! It’s officially summer. On behalf of all of us here at Mercantile Center, we hope you and your family enjoy a fun, safe Holiday and summer.
Before we dive into the month ahead, let's take a quick look back at everything that happened at Mercantile Center in June!

Parking Garage Announcement!

Good news! The Mercantile Center Garage is now offering quick, easy one hour parking on the first floor of the garage for tenants and customers. This convenient parking amenity is available in the first 10 spaces on right side of the up-ramp as you enter from Commercial Street.. Look for tall blue cones designating the reserved “short term” parking area. The parking spots are for one hour or less, and appropriate parking fees are still in effect.

New Lobby Display Screens!

New vertical display screens have been installed in the lobby on the 1st and 2nd floors of 100 Front Street!

The display screens will be used for building notices including upcoming events, tenant offerings, our weekly STUDIO schedule, and more!

Displays will also feature the opportunity for tenants to provide notices of events or meetings that they would like to be posted!

More information to come. Take the time to check out what our new displays have to offer!

Location, Inc. Officially Celebrates the Grand Opening of Its New Offices

Data sciences company Location, Inc. has opened its new headquarters in a newly renovated space at 120 Front Street.

The location-based analytics firm explored other areas for new offices, but settled on Mercantile Center to access the city's technology talent pipeline, affordable living and public transportation, Founder and CEO Andrew Schiller said in a statement.

"Worcester's promise of an increasingly vibrant downtown and business community makes it the perfect choice for our growing company." Schiller said.

The 4,600-square-foot space on the fourth floor of 120 Front Street is just a short distance away from its former offices at 86 Shrewsbury Street. The company first announced its move in November.

The move is another win for Franklin Realty Advisors, developers of the Mercantile Center, which has been marketing the renovated building.

"Our building at 120 Front Street is a strong strategic site for innovative businesses like Location, Inc. that are seeking a central vantage point in an urban setting close to a transportation hub and surrounded by neighborhood amenities," said Chip Norton, president of Franklin Realty Advisors, last November. "We are excited to welcome Location, Inc. and their employees to our downtown community."

Fun Facts About Worcester!

Did You Know. . .

On July 14, 1776, the Declaration of Independence, then on its way from Philadelphia to Boston, was intercepted at Worcester, and read for the first time in Massachusetts by a distinguished defender of the American Colonies, Isaiah Thomas (1749-1831).
A portrait of Isaiah Thomas hangs in the American Antiquarian Society in Worcester, which he founded.

Isaiah Thomas currently rests in peace in a big tomb at the Worcester Rural Cemetery, with a plaque and a single American flag fluttering in the breeze.

From Worcester to Hollywood and Back!

An American actor, writer, producer, singer and comedian; Denis Leary was born on August 18, 1957, in Worcester, MA.
On December 3, 1999, six firefighters (the "Worcester 6") from Leary's hometown of Worcester were killed in the Worcester Cold Storage Warehouse fire. In response, Leary established The Leary Firefighters Foundation in the spring of 2000.
A lifelong hockey fan, Leary teamed up with Boston Bruins legends and friends, Bobby Orr and Cam Neely to organize the first Celebrity Hat Trick, “Hockey’s Greatest Skate for America’s Bravest,” a two-day annual event that featured two teams comprised of hockey legends and Hollywood celebrities. Thousands of New England residents turned out to enjoy the game and honor the memory of the “Worcester 6.″
The hockey game raised $350,000 and took place annually. The proceeds went to Worcester and central Massachusetts fire departments to fund equipment, technology, and training, and to the families of firefighters who died or were injured in the line of duty.
