Welcome to the first edition of Run the Wild Times - Run the Wild's official newsletter.

What makes Run the Wild different?

We are passionate about running adventures. Apart from all the logistic support you'll receive as well as lead runner during your trip, we also emphasise the social side of running. Our groups run as a small team, typically up to 5 members. In the evening we meet for dinner, have a few beers, reflecting on the day we've had as well as what will happen on the next. It's also a great time to share stories and experience and have a bit of fun! Friendships are such an important part of running adventures and are another aspect that set us apart from the world of racing.

Summer season is kicking off - it's time to head to the Alps!

In a little over a week our first team of adventure runners will be discovering the stunning scenery of the French Alps led by Run the Wild's Emily Andrew - International Mountain Leader and permanent Alps resident. The Alps offers a great place to try out trail running for the first time as well as take on some more challenging routes. There are many sporting events here over the summer, and the atmosphere in Chamonix is electric with the Skyrunning Series as well as UTMB (Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc) preparations in full swing. There are still spaces for our September trip but they are limited - luxury spa hotel included!

Head in the sand - training for the Marathon Des Sables?

Training for MDS or just love running along coastal paths and beaches? Apart from being a stunning place to run trails, our Welsh Coast Weekend is a perfect way to get some top tips on kit, practise running in the sand as well as going for a night run. Our team is very experienced in multi-day self sufficient runs and successfully raced in many parts of the globe. Join up if you are new to the whole concept or looking to be a top placer.

Run around Mt Blanc in 2015!

Doing the UTMB? Or just want to run in the Alps? Whatever your reason, circumnavigating the highest mountain in Western Europe is an amazing running adventure. We break down the 100 mile route into manageable distances over 4-6 days. We are already taking registrations for this amazing running adventure. Full logistic support, lead runner and accommodation is all included. As with all our trips we run as a team which heightens the social element. Spaces are limited - so sign up early!

The RtW team has been busy reviewing kit and securing discounts for you - the adventure runners. Kit is important and it's often a costly investment, so with ever increasing options of gear in the market we want you to be informed of what we use when we run the trails. We are proud to be partners with GU (nutrition), Injinji (socks), Aarn (packs) and Suprabeam (torches). You'll also get plenty of gear advice on any one of our trips from packs to poles. If in doubt about what to buy before a trip please get in touch, we love talking about kit!

Summer Running

Running outside is part of the fun of summer, but it's important to take some precautions to make sure that the heat doesn't get to you! Remember sunscreen and wear a cap. Bear in mind that it's easy to get burnt without realising it when it's breezy and especially in the hills. Hydration is very important both during and after a run, so remember to take enough with you and don't forget that your body needs electrolytes - GU, NUUN and other brands make tablets you can add to water and are very effective. Keep cool and enjoy!
