High Holy Day Schedule and Information

Friends,

It’s the People, not the Place.
We recognize that “social distancing” makes it difficult to accomplish the rich community building to which we aspire at WJC . This year we will hold multi access services that people can choose to attend in person or online. In person services will be held indoors at UPAC and outdoors at WJC.

Registration Procedures:

Zoom:
Everyone is welcome to register for Zoom services starting on August 8.
Anyone who registers for an in person service will also be registered for Zoom services.

In Person Services at UPAC:
Attendance will be limited to vaccinated congregants over 12.
All members in good standing will be emailed a registration link on August 8.  Renew your membership now to get early access to registration.  Renew here or contact Andrew Maayan, our executive director.

On August 19th we will open up registration to everyone.

Seating will be limited by social distancing.  We are blocking off every other row of seats and leaving an empty seat between “pods” of congregants.  We will fill spaces on a rolling basis as registrations come in and close registration for each service when/if space is filled.  In UPAC you will be able to sit whereever you like within our social distancing parameters.

You can read all our COVID-19 precautions here.

Family Services outdoors at WJC:
Rabbi Jonathan and teachers from our Family School will be leading services at 3:30pm on the first day of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur.  Registration will be sent via email and be on the shul’s website on August 8. If the weather is very inclement the service(s) will be on Zoom.  If a change is necessary an email announcement will be sent.

Teen Discussion:
We will have our traditional teen discussion during evening services on erev Rosh Hashanah and Kol Nidre.  Please register teens for the UPAC in person services with the rest of your family.

Tashlich:
We will be encouraging everyone to do tashlich individually.  The Ritual Committee is working with Rabbi Jonathan to prepare resources for us all.

Yom Kippur afternoon:
We will have lots of options on Yom Kippur afternoon.  Everyone is welcome to study the Book of Jonah on Zoom.  Our families will meet at WJC.  Adults are welcome to join Rabbi Ellen Triebwasser for a contemplative labyrinth walk.

Neilah:
We will all join together outdoors at WJC to end Yom Kippur.  Please bring chairs if you need to sit (we’ll have some available).

The To-Do List for Everyone:
• Renew your membership, if you haven’t.
• Upload photos of WJC events to share or email them to hhd@wjcshul.org
• Upload proof of vaccination for everyone who wants to attend services at UPAC

Thank you all for your help and your patience as we work to make these High Holy Days as enriching and safe as we possibly can.  Please contact us if you have any questions.
