June 2015

The momentum is really building within our network which is exactly what we planned as a new board. We have had another two major events – Invest for Success evening at The Main and our Empowering Women in Business breakfast at the Commodore. Both events had over 50 people in attendance and were a great success.

Our key priority moving forward is finalizing everything for our IWA on August 14th. Have you booked your table ? We have such an incredible evening planned and would love you to join us.

Finally the strength of WIBRD is you, our valuable members and our ability to empower all women though training, networking and supporting professional women including small business owners, career professionals, up and coming business women and entrepreneurs. We welcome and encourage all to attend our events and bring along guests.

We had an absolutely fantastic turnout at our June Empowering Women in Business Breakfast. It is so exciting to see so many women supporting each other in business‬ and learning the skills of professionally networking! We absolutely loved hearing from Toni Vorenas owner of Metro Bakery & Cafe and past winner of the WIBRD Influential Women in Business Awards, she inspired us all with her amazing speech.
We are having a break from the breakfasts for the next two months as we focus on the IWA awards and our Christmas in July event. The breakfasts will resume in September.

Volunteering Trip of a Lifetime
WIBRD Board Member and Treasurer Ali Villani has just returned from a Head Heart Hand volunteering trip to Cambodia.
Head, Heart and Hand Holidays facilitated by Emma Hawkins and Sonia Muraca are journeys of self- discovery involving hands on voluntary work in Siem Reap
The project Ali worked on as part of a tribe of 9 people was to build a playground for a school with 400 students, this involved raising the money for the project and then building the playground.
Ali said “The trip was very challenging and rewarding, confronting and emotional and extremely humbling. It has totally changed my life and has really opened up my heart, we are truly so fortunate and I have so much gratitude for our tribe and what we achieved and for my incredibly fortunate life. I cannot wait to return in the future and be of service”.
Heart Heart Hand Holidays are doing incredible work each year and the ripple effect and expansive harmony Emma and Sonia are creating is nothing short of amazing.
