What another crazy wonderful and busy month we have had with our AGM done and dusted for yet another year. I am very proud to welcome Fiona Pulford to the Women in Business & Regional Development Board and look forward to working with her. Our board is committed more than ever to continue to drive our organisation forward to ignite the potential of women and be a powerful resource of support and opportunity for the business women of our region.
Empowering women and igniting the potential of women is our key focus for growth in 2016 and to encourage business owners, up and coming, women in leadership positions and our communities’ entrepreneurs to join our network and attend our events. In the absence of any funding or grants, the reliance on memberships and sponsorships is crucial to the future and sustainability of Women in Business & Regional Development, we continually seek to achieve a balance between our vision of inclusiveness, administration costs and affordability for members.
If you are not an active member of WIBRD I encourage you to take up our early bird 2016 membership offer. October Empowering Women in Business Breakfast.
A fantastic time was had by all who attended the WIBRD October Empowering Women in Business Breakfast we had this morning at the Commodore on the Park! Many thanks to Margie Atwell from McGrath Community Breast Care as well as Sharon Tuffnell of Bare Necessities for their amazing presentations, Di Ind for hosting, Tom Kosch for supporting the event and everyone for coming along wearing pink and supporting the Breast Cancer Network Australia.

'Supporting Each Other in Business' Lunches
The WIBRD ‘Supporting Each Other in Business’ Lunches will be held on the 4th Friday of every month.The informal lunches are open to all women and will be a set booking at a sponsors venue such as the Commodore and will provide a forum for those that attend to talk honestly about their business, develop professional relationships to work together to support each other, help each other through obstacles and mentor one another.In line with the newly developed strategic direction and action plan, WIBRD have organised this initiative to further support women in our region in all their endeavours and the lunches are a wonderful way to get out of the office meet some new people and have lunch!
Each member pays for their individual lunch and bookings are simply a text message at least a day prior to the lunch to the particular WIBRD Board Member hosting the lunch.

2015 Annual General Meeting
Thank you to all that attended the Women in Business & Regional Development Annual General Meeting on October the 13th 2015. We are proud to announce Fiona Pulford has been nominated and accepted to the Women in Business & Regional Development Board for a two year tenure at the recent AGM. With over 20 years’ experience in the early childhood development sector Fiona continues to be a passionate advocate for supporting carers involved in the education of others and has developed a large range of innovative community parenting programs in the region. Fiona has been on the SERDE Board for 3 years and is currently a Director for the Stand Like Stone Foundation and the Deputy Chair of the Limestone Coast Community Services Roundtable. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome Fiona to the Board and look forward to working with her.

At WIBRD we like to see our members and in particular Women doing well and this month our hat goes off to Tanya Coxon from Willow Lending Services. Community Event- Free Food Safety Short Courses
To increase knowledge and enhance the level of professionalism in the region regarding food practises, the Wattle Range Council and TAFESA are offering accredited short courses in food safety. There will be two free courses run in Millicent and Penola on Tuesday the 10th of November covering topics from safe food handling, legal requirements, food handling practises and much more. You Talked. We Listened. Strategy 2016 and beyond.
Thank you to those that participated in our survey at the June breakfast, the information gathered from that survey formed the foundation for the development of our 2016 strategic direction and action plan. As part of our new strategic direction to Empower Women  and ignite their potential we are endeavouring to provide our members with a structured program of Training & Networking Events to assist women to develop the necessary skills to achieve success  with training events being held every second month, a number of social networking events and empowering women in business networking events with guest speakers on particular topics such as leading.

Thank you to all that responded to our call for training ideas we received some very valuable feedback. As we are continually trying to improve and expand upon our support to you, our valuable members we will always appreciate any feedback or recommendations as to what specific training our members would like to participate in.
