What a month it has been for the Women in Business & Regional Development. Since our last newsletter we have launched our Influential Women in Business Awards, held two networking breakfasts- one at the Lakes Resort and one at The Commodore on the Park and not to mention celebrated International Women's Day.

2015 is set to be huge with the Influential Women in Business Awards being held in August this year, Women in Business and Regional Development initiated the Awards in 2010 to recognise and celebrate the many achievements of women– those operating a business, working in a business or at a community level. We now  need you help to promote and encourage as many people as possible to consider entering, or nominating a worthy colleague/community member, great regional business or group. Please help us by encouraging people and/or businesses that should earn some recognition for a job well done to nominate for an award.  
 
Finally the strength of WIBRD is you, our valuable members and our ability to empower all women though training, networking and supporting professional women including small business owners, career professionals, up and coming business women and entrepreneurs. We welcome and encourage all to attend our events and bring along guests- this month we have a number of events from FREE training seminars to High Tea and Networking breakfasts. It would be great to see you all there.

The application process is incredibly simple; you simply need to answer two questions about your business or role within an organisation, along with your experiences, in no more than 500 words .
 Award nominations close on 31 May 2015.
The Awards will be presented at a gala dinner at The Barn in Mount Gambier on Friday 14 August 2015. Nominees are encouraged to bring along a table of colleagues, friends and family to enjoy the celebrations and recognise the achievements of women in the region.

Congratulations to Wendy Richardson on the amazing milestone of 25 years in business with Redgum Country.
Over the years Redgum Country has become a household name within the South East and Green Triangle regions and has been recognised as a very successful business...taking out awards such as the Glenelg Shire Best Retail Business in 2001, The Herald Sun Regional Small Retailer in 2002, The Victorian Best Retail Business in 2002 and the Best Retail Business at the Mt Gambier Chamber of Commerce Outstanding business awards in 2002.  With the  biggest coup being Wendy being awarded Business Woman of the year in 2011 for the UFS/Telstra Women in Business awards.

2015 Women in Business Awards

The Influential Women in Business Awards will again be held in 2015 with nominations opening in late March.
This must attend Gala event will be held on August the 14th 2015 at the Barn Palais.
We are very excited to announce that we have secured Katrina Webb as guest speaker at the Awards.
Katrina Webb is recognised and acknowledged for her unique athleticism and outstanding success as a Paralympic athlete. She has won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in athletics at three Paralympic Games. 
Off the track Katrina is the Director of her own business Silver 2 Gold High Performance Solutions. As a qualified physiotherapist and a person that knows how to achieve gold medal results more than once, her business specializes in ‘Turning Silver into Gold’ and improving the performance and health of organisations, teams and individuals.

2015 Networking Breakfasts


High Tea to celebrate Wendy Richardson's 25 Years in Business






On Wednesday the 11th of March we celebrated International Womens Day with a Networking breakfast at the Lakes Resort. With Guest speakers Barbara Beal & Caroline Hill a great morning was had by all.










On Thursday the 9th of April the WIBRD celebrated our first event in the 'Empowering Women in Business Networking Breakfast Series' held at the Commodore on the Park, the breakfast marked the launch of the nomination period for the Influential Women in Business Awards.

If you would like  to submit an article for inclusion in our newsletter please send to executive@wibrd.org.au. Articles will be subject to Board approval. We would also  like to hear about any good news our members would like to share. Any articles that particularly interest women are invited as well.

In 2015 there will be opportunities to advertise in our newsletters. Members and Sponsors will have first options as there will only be a certain number of spots available each month. Fees will be set by the Board in December.
