(We were able to spend time with more than a dozen people who support our ministry financially and we made several new contacts.)
Indiana
In Indiana, we spent a day with Robert's brothers and sisters. Nice to be able to reminisce of days gone by.
We stopped by Robert's childhood home. Happy to see how beautifully it has been restored.
Manitoba
In Manitoba, I found the cairn that commemorates two of my great great grandfathers' graves. Great great grandpa Wiebe froze to death in a Canadian blizzard in 1876, shortly after arriving in Manitoba from Russia.
We have a yearly date with friends who live at Falcon Lake during the summer to take us out on the lake in their boat. This year, it was very chilly, so we cut the ride short. Still very enjoyable. Thanks. Elmer & Mary!
Robert's Work
Earlier, this year Part One of the Exegetical Summary of Acts (chapters 1-14) was sent to the publisher. Robert continues to work on Part Two (chapters 15-28). Currently, he is working on Acts chapter 19.
Verna's Work
In September, Verna was privileged to be part of the LAF (Linguists and Friends) conference. This year the annual get-together of the SIL Linguistic Coordinators was held at a Christian Retreat Center in Oregon.
During one of the sessions, Verna was part of a panel discussion exploring various ways to improve our service delivery to Language projects, including Scripture translation.
I reported on the progress of Dictionary & Lexicography Services. There are 105 dictionaries published on Webonary.org and several Dictionary Apps in the Google Play store under the Webonary-SIL label.
We ended the week by having a communion service beside the lake. It is such a blessing to be able to share the Lord's Supper with my colleagues from around the world.
Thank you for your friendship, your prayers, and your financial support. Without you on our team, we would not be able to do the work Father God has called us to. We pray for you daily. May Father God continue to prosper you and keep you in health. May all your prayers be answered.
