Verna's Trip to Ireland

I arrived at the Greystones YWCA on Sunday morning at 8:00 am after being on the road and in the air for almost 24 hours.
I checked in and then Julie and I walked to a local church service. I enjoyed the service, but had a very hard time staying awake.
The conference (Global and Area Encounter of LInguistics Coordinators) included all of SIL's Linguistic coordinators from around the world. I gave a short report on what Dictionary & Lexicography Services has accomplished since I have been the Coordinator.
Then I opened the floor to suggestions about how we can network together to better serve Bible translation projects. Out of this discussion came an invitation to participate in a Dictionary workshop in Oaxaca, Mexico next month. More about this later...
The weather was cool, but it didn't rain at all. It stayed light quite late, so we had time to go for walks along the Irish Sea after supper.
Of course, I had to take off my socks and shoes and dip them into the water. It was very cold and the stones hurt my feet, so I didn't stay in very long.

Robert's Work

Robert is enjoying his new role as the co-author of An Exegetical Summary of Acts. He is working together with Belinda Cheng, a lady living in Toronto, Ontario. See all the commentaries, lexicons, and versions of Acts he is using! Actually, that's not all of them; many of the resources he will be using, he can only access online.

Currently, he is working on Acts chapter 9, verse 12.

Our Upcoming Trip to Oxford, UK

About six months ago, Verna received a surprise invitation from Oxford University Press to attend a one-day Oxford Global Languages Symposium at Oxford University in England on September 24th.

After checking with her supervisor, she accepted the invitation only to find out that Oxford University Press was planning to pay her way there and her accommodations while there. With that in mind, we decided that Robert should use his air miles and accompany her on this trip. We will spend a few days touring Oxford and London, and spend some time with colleagues in Gloucester.

Verna has been asked to be a facilitator of one of the sessions. Pray that she represents SIL International and Wycliffe well! You may view a list of the participants and the programme.

Thank you for your friendship, your prayers, and your financial support. Without you on our team, we would not be able to do the work Father God has called us to. We pray for you daily. May Father God continue to prosper you and keep you in health. May all your prayers be answered.
