Update & Events

Hello TCDers,

I know a few folks snuck the bikes out of their winter slumber to get some miles in last week.  Hopefully, more warm weather will be on the way soon. Either way, it's time to get all your 2018 rides penciled in.

We will hold the 50th TCD Business and Planning Meeting on Sunday March 4th in Royal Oak.  We will handle our club business and finalize the riding calendar for the year.

There is a draft calendar located on the forum you can review in advance of the meeting.   This year we’re also going to be publishing a ‘ride guide’ which contains more detail on what’s involved with each ride, where, type of riding, accommodations, how many typically attend, etc.

Upcoming Events Schedule:
(See Calendar details)

TCD Business and Planning Meeting - Sunday March 4th
  • The meeting will start at 1:00.
  • This is the annual meeting of the TCD and our chance to plot our adventures for the coming year.
  • We will have coffee available.
  • Optional meeting for lunch beforehand at 11:30 a.m. at the Royal Oak Brewery (215 E 4th St, Royal Oak, MI 48067) if anyone is interested.
  • We will have our business meeting first, then we will review our proposed calendar of activities and finalize our plans for the year.
  • We will be in room #8/9 in the Royal Oak Community Center (same as last year):
  • Location: Leo Mahany / Harold Meininger Senior Community Center
    3500 Marais Avenue
    Royal Oak MI 48073
(North of 13 Mile Road, just south of Lexington Boulevard, East of Crooks Road)
  • If you have time, please arrive at 12:50 to help set-up the room.
Mid-Atlantic BDR Movie Screening – Monday March 19th
  • There will be a movie screening of the Mid-Atlantic Backroads Discovery Route (MABDR) on Monday, March 19, at 8 p.m. at the Maple Theatre, 4135 W. Maple Road, Bloomfield, MI 48301 presented by BMW Motorcycles of Southeast Michigan.
  • Tickets are $10, and they can be purchased online in advance at (or at the door if available).
  • The Maple is a terrific venue with a coffee shop, bar and excellent restaurant, so we are encouraging people to show up early and stay late.
  • It will be a great opportunity to meet other ADV riders in addition to learning about the MABDR.
March Moto Madness, March 22-25th
  • A great way for ADV riders to start the season.  This year the TCD is sending down a contingent for the fun and festivities.
  • March Moto Madness is an annual motorcycle riding rally held at Tellico Plains, Tennessee. Spend a few days riding motorcycles, competing, camping, enjoying great food and music. Best of all, catch up with old friends and make some new ones.
BMW Motorcycles of Southeast Michigan Annual Charity Fashion Show, Friday April 27th 2018
  • They will have the newest gear from BMW, Klim, Rev'It, Schuberth, and more.
  • Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served
  • Tickets are $25 each and 100% of proceeds to benefit the Thin Blue Line of Michigan.
Jeff Hunter was the recipient of the TCD Presidential Award for his 4+ years of service to the club.  Jeff had a long list of accomplishments for the TCD, and we all appreciate everything that he did for us!
Mike Drew (with his new Mayhem nametag), proudly took home the worst trophy ever.  He did a lot of riding, and forgot to put down the rallies that he attended (MMM counts...)
