Update & Events

Hello TCDers,

The trees are already starting to turn and we're over a month away from Color Tour! We're half way through September, but still have plenty of events left this month. Below is a ride report from our UP adventure in August. We'll cover the September events in more detail next month.

August UP Adventure Ride: We had 19 riders join us this year for our annual stint through the UP. We all gathered in St. Ignace on Friday night and then rallied around the BBQ from the Trading Post next door to the Pines Motel, (best food in town!).

We got an early start on Saturday morning and made our way to the abandoned RACO airfield, then to Tahquamenon falls for lunch. After lunch we made a quick stop by the old Rainbow Lodge campground after battling mounds of sand on the north part of the trail. Finally onto Grand Marais and the Superior Hotel, where the new owners were more than welcoming to our motley group. With the new tavern across the street it wasn't hard to figure out dinner.

Sunday we made our way back to St. Ignace by route of some fast flowing trails. Unfortunately we started finding more and more closed private roads in the UP and ended up spending sometime re-routing the groups.

2017 Thumb Run
9 riders made their way to Port Austin to take in the sights and clear night skies.

Dave and Dale went on Friday and scouted the area, and the rest come up on Saturday.

Most went to 'Captain Morgan's Grindstone Bar & Grille" while Rob and Ken went to the Farm to celebrate their belated birthday's.

As always, a great bonfire was lit and although we haven't heard any reports that it was seen from the moon - that won't stop us from trying again next year...

Wailin' Wayne

While not an 'official' TCD event, many members attended the GS event Wailin Wayne weekend in the Wayne National Forest of Ohio.

Lots of great riding and fun times.

Daryl even won the longest tenured BMW MOA member at the event!
