Update & Events

Hello TCDers,

The fall colors are changing earlier than expected, so we better hope they wait up for us in Lewiston! Yes, you heard that right, the Fall Color Tour will be in Lewiston this year. After doing the Longest Day and the RA Rally on the west side of the state, we thought we could give NE Michigan a try.

Looking forward to seeing everyone up there, and at the rest of the events below!

Upcoming Events Schedule:
(See Calendar details)

Oct 7th: Oktoberfest - BMW SE Michigan
Oct 10th: TCD Tuesday - Ascension Brewing, Novi
Oct 13-15th: Fall Color Tour - Lewiston
Nov 11-12th: Edmund Fitz Run - East Tawas

Oktoberfest - October 7th
  • BMW Motorcycles of Southeast Michigan, Plymouth at 14855 N Sheldon Rd, just north of M-14 will host an Oktoberfest open house – seems a perfect fit for a dealer of German motorcycles, ja?
  • Come join the fall celebration!

TCD Tuesdays
  • Casual monthly meet-up held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm at various locales
  • Tuesday, October 10th will be at the Ascension Brewing Company, 42000 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI
  • Last chance to plan for the TCD Color Tour. Ride out and hang with the TCD crowd, see you there!

Fall Color Tour - Oct 13-15th
  • This is a TCD favorite, however this year with a slight twist - instead of Interlochen again, we're heading to Lewiston!
  • The official camp location will be Shady Acres Camp Ground (tent camping, RV hook-ups and cottages are available) just south of town.
  • For lodging there are lots of options available. Quite a few of us are staying at the Redwood Motor Inn right in town next to food and everything else. They also have a large fire pit right on the property.
  • Both road and adventure GPS routes will be available on the forum for download. The road routes are around 185-200 miles and the Adv Track is 155 miles.

Edmund Fitz Run - Nov 11-12th
  • A memorial TCD ride to East Tawas honoring the Edmund Fitzgerald sailors who lost their lives in Lake Superior.
  • Check in with the TCD forum as the date draws closer

September Ride Reports:

Road & Trail SE Ohio Ride:

This is a new event for the club, it's only the second year we've gone down to Coshocton, Ohio to ride some of the fantastic roads there. There were six members to show up for the ride, Pat O'Neill, Mike Eckstein, Greg Crago, Shannon Adkins, Scott Piqutette and Dale Estes.  The weather was pretty brutal, reaching the low 90's all four days. See the complete write-up on the website Road & Trail SE Ohio 2017.

New & Old business:

Breakfast Schedule (Calendar)The official start time of the Sunday Breakfast has been moved back to 9:00am. While some want to get there early, it makes it difficult for new members to feel welcome when everybody is finished eating before the 9:00 am starting time.  We're a friendly group, let's make sure we roll out the welcome mat for new attendees!

Club Elections: Open nominations ended September 17th, 45 days prior to the planned November 1st election date. As such, I am pleased to announce the following nominations for the 2017 election year, and 2018-2019 office years.
  • Mike Eckstein for office of President
  • Michael Drew for office of Vice President
  • Craig Grissom office of Secretary/Treasurer
  • Lukas Eddy for office of Editor
As all of these nominations are running unopposed, and no other nominations can be accepted at this time per section 6.42 of the BMWTCD bylaws, all of the nominees will be considered elected to office as of November 1, 2017 per section 6.55 of the latest bylaws.

Special mention to Mr. Pat Carol who initially stepped up for the Vice President nomination, however has decided to concentrate his time and efforts with the MOA. Please keep your local delegates in mind during the MOA elections. Pat did a great job as Co-Chair of this year's International MOA Rally!

Lastly, a huge THANK YOU to our voting committee Dave DeCook and Dick Hautau. It's always good to see members step up to support the TCD when needed!
