August 2015

Update & Events

Hello TCD Members,

Summer is flying by and it's time to get ready for the August riding schedule.

Upcoming Events Schedule:
( See forum for details)

August 8th: Detroit Urban Cross
August 16th: Ice Cream Ride
August 21-24th:
TCD's 4th Annual Yooper Dual Sport Ride.

Detroit Urban Cross (forum post with details):
  • Early crowd meet at BMW of SE Michigan in Plymouth at 7:30am - 8:00am
  • Late crowd meet us at 9am in Mexican Village for breakfast at Taqueria Lupitas or Evies Tamales. There's plenty of parking behind Lupitas.
  • Plan on a full day of riding around our namesake city and enjoying our heritage.
Ice Cream Ride: Mike Osmer will lead the intrepid TCD breakfast crowd to top off their meal at Jackon's famous All Star Dairy. Meet up with Mike at 10 AM following the TCD Sunday breakfast at Pinckney.

Annual UP DS Ride Aug 21-24 (forum post with details):

This ride is for experienced dual sport and adventure riders. There will be lots of sand, gravel two track, and some single track involved. Knobbie tires are recommended, and ORV and Trail permits are required. The plan is as follows.

Friday, August 21 - Arrive in St. Ignace, MI - Stay overnight at a Motel - probably the Pines but I need to check with them. They have allowed us to leave some trailers there in the past.
Saturday, August 22 - Ride to Grand Marais via dirt, gravel, sand and maybe a little pavement. Overnight at a Motel - probably the Voyager, but again I need to confirm.
Sunday, August 23 - Return to St. Ignace via similar roads. You can overnight again at St. Ignace, or head home. Arrival in St. Ignace will be late afternoon and it would be shame to miss the afterglow celebration.
Monday, August 24 - Travel home

A lil'bit of MI Sugar Sand during the Longest Day Event
I think Greg is just "parking" his bike at the turn.
