Hello TCD Members,

Happy April Fool's day everyone, I hope everyone is ready for another year full of rides and shenanigans. After a successful Business and Planning meeting, we now have a complete schedule for 2015. This update features a small sampling of what's in store for the TCD members throughout the year.

As requested, all of the pictures are now "click-able" to view in their original size and glory.

BMW Motorcycles of SE Michigan Annual Charity Fashion Show is Friday, April 17, 2015. All proceeds will benefit The United Cerebral Palsy of Metropolitan Detroit. Join us for a fun filled evening of the latest motorcycle fashions by BMW Motorrad, Klim, Olympia Motor Sports and Rev'it! New & Old business:

Business Meeting Summary:

The club is in good standing and has over 110 active members renewed for 2015, a positive bank statement, and a balanced budget. All charters were renewed.  The Michigan Incorporation fee, and the 990n were filed.
  1. Three Motions were made and passed:
    1. Motion was made and passed to increase the annual membership fee to $25 in 2016.
    2. Motion was made and passed to post the monthly Newsletter/Update on a public part of the website after distribution. Members supported it being made available to non-members as a way of promoting the club
    3. Motion was made and passed to charge up to $10/person to attend the White Elephant Party if it’s required to support the club’s budgetary concerns. This can help offset the cost of the hall rental and some of the food cost
  2. By-law revisions were reviewed and ballots distributed to all in attendance. Ballots will be mailed out to any member who did not attend the meeting.  The pole will close on June 1st, 2015.
  3. Members stated the east/west breakfast in the winter was good, but in the summer it should be Pinckney only (or west)
  4. The following committees were formed:
    1. Voting committee: Tom Gary and Dave DeCook; Dave Hayt is a possibility
    2. Online Merchandise Sales: Tom Gary & Mike Eckstein
    3. Risk management:  Club officers and John Horner
  5. Communication
    1. Media Committee: Tom Decker stated the monthly electronic email update has gotten a lot of positive feedback and is a good direction to take for the newsletter. The media committee supports this method of distributing TCD news. It’s currently unknown if the free service will allow advertising.  Jeff to review terms of use.
    2. Emails: Members agreed the monthly update is good and also stated a simple email reminder prior to events would be good and not too much.
    3. Facebook: Agreed to not use page for announcements or communication.  Mike Eckstein will take charge of the page and it will only be used to post pictures of events and maintain a positive public image for the TCD. It might be good to have all of the club officers have administrative privileges to the page.
  6. We are excited to announce that Kourtney Thompson has agreed to return as newsletter editor.  He did a great job editing the newsletter previously and we are very pleased to have him back for another tour of duty. Be sure to share with him your pictures and stories from the 2015 riding season.
