A lot has happened and a lot more is happening since our last newsletter. Can you believe we are just around the corner from the Holiday Season? It is the time of year where everything is going 100 miles an hour...

First thing, don't forget to renew your membership! It's so important to have our members renew and also encourage their friends and colleagues to do the same. We need the numbers to make sure our college, government, and stakeholders are hearing us. An example of our voice being heard is the long overdue release of the new MCSS fee schedule and admissions procedures that came into effect on November 12th, 2014. Your association has worked with the Ministry...

Internet Dispensing & Competition in the Eyewear Industry
Trending conversations are most certainly inclusive of Internet dispensing and competition for Opticians. The Ontario Opticians Association has received many enquiries as to what is our official position on Internet dispensing. The OOA has a duty to investigate and research all aspects of issues such as Internet dispensing and its possible effects on our profession, business models, jobs and indeed our standards of care. The OOA has not yet articulated a position on the Internet dispensing of eyewear as we are still in the process of consulting with our members, our College, and other relevant stakeholders...
