The last 50 years

As part of our 150th celebration Jonathan Corfe is writing a book on the history of the club. The book will cover the last 50 years, taking up the story from where the Reed & Swan1 publication finished.

Jonno is a published author - penning Bartlett and Corfe’s Great Kiwi Pub Crawl and he is currently writing his second book, Horrible People.

On the weekend Jonno spent some time with Stephen Garguilo, going through the club archives, checking out the trophy cabinets and looking at the photos that adorn the club room walls.

As Jonno and Stephen talked, Jonno was busy cleaning and polishing the silver cups, part of his mission to contribute to the club looking ship shape (his military training coming to the fore). Thanks to Dane from Bravo team for helping out.

If you have any stories you would like to share with Jonno he would love to hear them.

A special thanks to Stephen and Sandra Garguilo for the work they put in on the weekend to make sure the archives were accessible (and the clean up of the back room)

New wood burner installed

Well done and thanks to the Bs (Bravo Company) for installing the new fireplace at the club rooms. And a big thanks to Red de Garnham for organising the purchase of the fire and sorting the compliance issues.

After installing the fire the boys tested it and their verdict is that it will keep the club rooms warm and toasty over winter.

Golden Oldies Rugby

Steve Mitchell from the Tasman Rugby Union would like to gauge the interest in holding a tournament/game/series of Golden Oldies Rugby.

The format and timing is fully open to suggestions and will be determined by the number of players/teams and the ideas he receives.

Steve's initial thoughts are that games will be hosted at a central venue with multiple fields, rolling subs, teams made up on the day if required, and 20 minute quarters.

The whole purpose is for oldies to have a run, have some fun and socialise at the end of it with a feed and a beer.

If your friendswould like to play Golden Oldies please email Steve outlining your initial thoughts.

Once Steve has received enough interest he will circulate a draft proposal.

Sponsorship news

We are happy to welcome McCashin’s Brewery as a club sponsor.

Our sponsors keep the club running — without their generosity, assistance and support we would not be able to run the club and operate as we do today.

Please support our sponsors — a full list of sponsors is below.
