Welcome to the October Newsletter. You did not miss out on Septembers issue as there wasn't one. While Richard was on holiday, swanning around Scandinavia, Europe and Cyprus, Tom was busy unloading containers and delivering boats. So here we go.
Girls in Sailing
Grace Holligan, RS Aero 5 Youth Sailor from Sandy Bay Yacht Club in Hobart, Tasmania.
Completed her first two races already and was tickled to be beating the Laser 4.7s.
Jacqui Lokum, RS Aero 5 Youth Sailor from Black Rock Y.C. in Melbourne. Ready to leave the beach for a training session with her dad who sails the Finn pictured behind her.
Pictured centre are Charlotte Griffin and Chelsea Connor, winners of the recently concluded NSW Youth Championship in the 420 Class. They won in a Mackay 420 purchased from Sailing Raceboats.
Alex Jackson, RS Aero, standing next to dad (Mark) and his OK Dinghy. After a short, but enjoyable trial sail Alex is mulling over her options to get into the class.
Coming Events
The first get together and shakedown event for the RS classes is at Sail Sandy on the 17th/18th October at Sandringham Y.C. The RS200s, RS100s will be there alongside eight RS Aeros. The Aeros are from Black Rock, Royal Brighton, Lake Boga, Albert Sailing Club, Port Melbourne and Royal Geelong which is a great effort.
The National Championships for the RS classes for 2016 will take place at Royal Brighton Y.C. Feb 5/6 2016
Ins and Outs
A container arrived from Poland with the Carter Optimists which are exceptionally well put together boats.
Also a container from Holland with the fabulously coloured Dragon training Oppis. At $2,600 they are a great buy for anybody with a child learning to sail and have a self draining feature plus they are up to 12kg lighter than alternative boats in the marketplace. (pictured, racked and ready to go, below left)
Deliveries of an RS Aero 9 to Sydney which is a surprise birthday present for a serving RAN officer, we hope to see some pictures soon. It traveled together with a Carter Optimist, pictured below right, destined for another customer in Sydney. A 420 was dispatched to Hobart and two other Aeros were picked up by customers from the warehouse.
Spot the difference
One of these boats is a high performance, state of the art racing machine. The other one is a Moth.
