1. What drew you downtown as a place to open your business?
The things that I want to do creatively just fit better downtown, and I really want to be a part of the revitalization and regrowth of this part of the city.
2. Do you have a favorite downtown moment or memory?
I'd have to say my ribbon cutting was my favorite moment here so far. The support from the community has been great, they've been very welcoming.
3. Tell us something interesting people may not know about your building.
Well, I'm not originally from Texarkana so I didn't know much about it, but the owner told me that this used to be the Avenue Hotel. She showed me around upstairs and I actually got a cast iron sink from one of the rooms and repurposed it into a washstand display for our soaps. My next goal is to get a tub down here, I'll just need some man power for that!
4. What do you want people to know about your business?
We're here, we're open. We're a family business. Most of the products we carry are made by my kids, for kids. A lot of kids on the autism spectrum have sensory issues and bath time was a battle with my son. The soaps and products we carry help to make bath time easier and more fun. Making these products has helped both my son and my daughter working with their hands and feeling productive. And we have products for adults, too! Our Jar of Dirt (a charcoal scrub) is a popular item.
5. What would you like to see downtown in the future?
More activities and things for kids to do. If you create activities for children, their parents will bring them. And these kids are the ones who are going to rebuild this city.
