Latest from Brunton Park

United kick off the new season today against Crawley Town amid controversy caused by a video released by the Sussex club ahead of kick-off, and subsequently taken down. The incident may add some spice to a fixture that would not usually be seen as having any particular needle or rivalry. Crawley were recently taken over by new American owners who specialise in crypto currency and their approach has ruffled quite a few feathers already.

Manager Paul Simpson has hinted at some injury problems ahead of today's opener, but he did unveil Jamie Devitt yesterday. The 32-year-old has been part of United's pre-season despite not getting a new contract at the end of last season. The experienced Irish midfielder has now agreed terms to stay at Brunton Park for the next 12 months.

Meanwhile youngsters Max Kilsby and Sam Fishburn have been loaned out to Annan Athletic and Blyth Spartans, respectively. Kilsby joins Peter Murphy's Scottish League Two outfit until January while Fishburn, who went out on loan to Lancaster City last season, will join the National League North side for the next three months.

Current CUFC squad:

Tomas Holy, Gabriel Breeeze, Scott Simons
Jack Armer, Morgan Feeney, Corey Whelan, Joel Senior, Jon Mellish, Jack Ellis, Ben Barclay (on loan from Stockport County), Finley Back (on loan from Nottingham Forest)
Taylor Charters, Josh Dixon, Callum Guy, Brennan Dickenson, Lewis Bell, Jordan Gibson, Max Kilsby (loaned out to Annan Athletic), Jamie Devitt, Owen Moxon, Sonny Hilton (on loan from Fulham)
Sam Fishburn (loaned out to Blyth Spartans), Omari Patrick, Kristian Dennis, Oluwatobi Sho-Silva, Ryan Edmondson
