Giving Tuesday on December 1st

Giving Tuesday is a special day for non-profits to reach out to supporters. The House of the Seven Gables is asking for your support!

Please give to our Annual Appeal and help provide educational programming for at-risk immigrant families AND help preserve the historic houses on our National Historic Landmark District campus.
Give or Pledge to our Secret Rooms Campaign and become a part of a new exciting effort to restore, interpret and open first-period spaces in The Gables mansion!
Please forward this to ten friends who would like to help our mission of helping others.

What's Happening in Settlement?
The House of the Seven Gables again invited all Salem Public School students to create hand-made ornaments that reflect the many immigrant traditions around the holiday season in our North Shore area. The  hand-crafted ornaments will decorate the Settlement Heritage Tree, which will grace the Visitor Center throughout December.

Teachers and students at the Nathaniel Bowditch School and Salem Academy Charter School confirmed their participation in the project. The public will be invited to purchase the finished ornaments from the Settlement Tree, and proceeds from the ornament sales will serve as donations to the museum. The one-of-a-kind ornaments will represent the immigrant populations that The Gables has supported over the past 105 years, in keeping with its Settlement mission.  All Settlement educational programs benefit immigrant students and their families, as well as other at-risk youth in our area.

The Settlement Tree will go up on Thanksgiving weekend, and admission to view the display will be free to all.

What's Happening in Preservation
The first phases of construction of the Secret Rooms Project will be starting on two second-floor rooms in The House of the Seven Gables beginning in January. This will mark the start of a multi-year project with the end goal of opening these spaces to the public. The second-floor rooms are part of the original structure, and have been used for a variety of purposes since 1668. Visit our website and stay tuned for the latest updates about this exciting restoration.
